UPDATE: The Moose actually did get the hurry up at the State ABCC this week and were approved for their liquor license. No one figured the state would act so quickly, but somehow, some way, it did. They were approved on Jan. 31st at the ABCC meeting, which came too late for our Feb. 1st edition. Word came to the local officials on Feb. 1st. Because of the state's unusually quick turnaround on this one, they didn't need any temporary licenses. In effect, the Moose lost their license for the month of January. They're back in action. And by the way, you've never seen me sleeping at a meeting....even though sometimes I might feel like it.

Wow, you really got your news wrong on this one. The Moose as of February 1st got re-instated their license and the bar is now fully operational and will be for Super Bowl Sunday as well. I was there today myself.
It is a shame when community newspapers fall asleep and do harm to businesses in the community. Next time maybe you should hire staff that stay awake during meetings so they can accurately report what is going on.
The Moose organization is a valuable part of the community. Helping many youth organizations, running blood drives and helping various charities. It is more than a bar. You should be thankful a organization like this continues to be a part of the community and help them continue to thrive rather than throw dirt on their yet dug out grave. The Moose has been a part of Revere for over 80 years and will be here for many more years to come.

Who is going to pay for my lids for my barrells?? Example just this past week the trash men just thru my EXPENSIVE barrells on the street, NOT ON THE SIDEWALK and the lids blew down the street. So when I get home from work at 6:30pm I have to go looking for my EXPENSIVE lids and hope that my Barrells have not been ran over because the trash men have emptied them and then just whipped them anywhere they felt like!!!! Point is how can you force residents to lid the barrells if the lids are going to be destroyed!!!!

Part of government procedure is that public entities are supposed to comply with open meetings laws, and residents have a right to be present and speak their mind. It does not seem to follow that they should be limited to what they want or have to say. But by the same token, yes, this doesn't infringe on the rights of the politicians or other Revere citizens--present or not--to be defamed, or to have valuable time taken away from them to dialogue or vote on important issues on the table. That said, if the proceedings in a particular evening's meeting need to run late, then so be it. If the Councilors should decide not to agree with or to like such a situation, then too bad and don't choose to decide to run for or to be in public office. It's part of the job, not a privately owned company where the manager can decide when to lock the boardroom doors for the night or to outsiders.

That's an incredible account. If this is accurate, please contact us at the paper (x112) if you'd like to expand on the issue to a reporter. Really, that goes for anyone on here. Good and bag with this ordinance. Appears this is the bad stuff.

I would like to thank the Revere Journal for their position on this issue. I agree that no councilor should be bashed at any public meeting. But citizens also have been bashed at previous meetings when trying to speak. A citizen should have the right to communicate in writing before any public meeting. The ward 3 Councilor is simply wrong trying to limit communications once a month for 3 minutes. He receives about $28,000 a year to serve as a part time councilor. He and others are supposed to sit and listen to us more than 3 minutes a month.

Just a thought but I think having the trashmen leave a non compliant trash bag on the curb for it to rot another week in the bag will not help a rodent problem

I have to say that I bought these bags although I have never had a problem with mice before, after using them I have found the bags outside cut up so I guess that I am saying that they don't work. I am going back to old fashion bags.

I think that everyone in the city should strike out for one week on trash collection and make a point.

Let's have the city listen them.

It is a a known fact that the mint X bags don't work, that is why cities in the NY state stopped using them.

My questions is; what are we suppost to do if you have a child walking to school who is allergic to mint? These bags smell like hell and the sidewalks are pretty much useless for walking by a child once they are placed on the curb.

The city should be going after Larry the slum landlord of Revere and his illegal/trash filled apartments.

Some seem to miss my point that there are > conflicting laws. One law for possession outside of school that says > one can possess, and one for inside of schools that says they can't. > That's the mixed message we are sending kids. Change one of the laws > to keep kids out of conflict, either the outside of school possession > law, or the inside school law that says they can't be in possession, > but if we do the latter, lets take down all the "Safe and Drug Free Signs"Dr. D.

Mint x trash bags do not work. Rats ate right through it. Have been using the bags for two months now and since they have been digging up St. Mary's and other side streets there has been a huge problem. I'll use the bags so I don't get a fine, but it is not solving the problem at all
