BROADWAY REQUEST WITHDRAWN

Before he could even get started, Jeffrey Castaldo, Castaldo Realty Trust, 85 Colonial Ave., North Andover withdrew his Zoning Board application last Wednesday requesting a front yard setback and parking variance to enable him to construct a 40 unit apartment with retail space on the first floor on Lots 10, 11 and 13 at 529 Broadway with parking spaces located on Lot 13 and Lot 9A School Street.

“We’d like to discuss the project with the city councillors and address the concerns of the abutters,” Castaldo said.

“This abuts Ward 5 and anything of this magnitude will change the area,” said Ward 5 Councillor John Powers. “I think that there needs to be a neighborhood meeting.”

Ward 3 Councillor Arthur Guinasso the impact on the neighborhood is a major one.

“This could only add to the traffic,” he said.

Councillor Dan Rizzo said he wants to protect the quality of life in Revere.

“There is a proliferation of development,” he said. “It impacts traffic, the rats and the schools can’t take anymore.”
