Revere takes on Chelsea bocce players

Get ready to cheer on  Revere Senior Bocce players as they square off against Chelsea Senior Bocce players for bragging rights as winners of the “Bocce Bowl” trophy? Come on down to the First Annual Bocce Bowl Tournament. The information is listed here in addition to a flyer attached for distribution. This event is presented by the Chelsea Recreation & Cultural Affairs Division in coordination with the Revere Rossetti-Cowan Senior Center and Chelsea Senior Center.

The BOCCE BOWL will be held Saturday, Sept.16 —12:00-3:00 p.m. (or until play has ended) The Rain date will be Sunday, Sept. 17 —12:00-3:00 p.m.

Where: Voke Park, 546 Washington St. Chelsea, MA (down the street from the New Bridge Café on the right side).

Who is invited:

Revere and Chelsea Bocce leagues (their families if they want)

Chelsea City Manager, Revere Mayor, Council and School Committee members and our state delegation. Other seniors from both cities

Presented by the Chelsea Recreation & Cultural Affairs Division

Event Elements:

Senior Bocce Tournament

Officiator/Referee- John Roberts

Program with rules, League bios(history, award), players names

Trophy- to be held by the winning league with all the bragging rights that entails until the next tournament.

Food- burgers, hotdogs, cookies, drinks, chips

Ice Cream truck

TAFT STREET RELIEF FUND TO BE DISBURSED:

City officials thank all residents who donated to the Taft Street Relief Fund.

The city will soon begin the process of disbursing the funds raised.

Please be advised of this important notice:

If your family was registered with the Red Cross as a victim of the 41-45 Taft St. fire, please contact the City of Revere Treasurer’s Office by Friday, September 15. You may call the Treasurer’s Office at 781-286-8136, come to City Hall at 281 Broadway, or send a letter to Treasurer’s Office, City Hall, 281 Broadway, Revere, MA 02151.

Please present documentation showing your registration for services with the Red Cross, as well as documentation of your Taft St. address. The Revere Fire Department referred all affected households to the Red Cross on the day of the fire.

If you were displaced by the 41-45 Taft St. fire and did not register for services with the Red Cross, call 1-800-RED-CROSS (800-256-4733) as soon as possible to verify your eligibility before attempting to register with the City.

The City will make every effort to outreach all of the affected families. After September 15, each affected household will be distributed an equal share of the raised funds. The Red Cross registered household units as those living together as of the day of the fire.

This fund is strictly for victims displaced by the June 13, 2017 fire at 41-45 Taft St. Any attempts to inappropriately collect funds will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
