The announcement by Mayor Brian Arrigo of his appointment of Captain James Guido as Interim Chief of Police has been greeted with universal approval by residents and city officials alike.

Interim Chief Guido has served with the Revere Police Department since 1986 and holds a degree from Curry College, including a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice. In addition, from the inception of his career, Interim Chief Guido has been active in the community of Revere and in the Police Department, volunteering his time to build playgrounds and parks and to help organize the Sandcastle Festival, community police events, and fundraisers..

Interim Chief Guido spearheaded the construction and placement into service of the joint police and fire public safety facility on Revere Beach Parkway. He also has had experience with the administrative side of the Police Department, handling payroll and budget matters, and serves in the additional capacities as the Deputy Director of the city’s Emergency Management office and Chairman of the Insurance Advisory Committee.

In short, Interim Chief Guido brings a unique blend of many years of experiential depth and breadth to his new post that unquestionably will prove to be of great benefit to the Police Department, its officers, and Revere’s citizens.

We applaud Mayor Arrigo for his choice of Captain Guido as the Interim Chief of Police and we look forward to the new perspectives that Captain Guido will bring to this important position.
