Revere’s Cicatelli, DeStefano, Lopez are set for Shriners Football Game

By Cary Shuman

Revere head football coach Lou Cicatelli and two of his star players, Anthony DeStefano and Oscar Lopez, will participate in the Shriners Football Classical Saturday at Bentley University in Waltham.

Cicatelli will call the North All-Star team’s defensive signals along with fellow assistant coach and Revere product Gavin Monagle of Masconomet High. DeStefano and Lopez will compete for the North team that features the top graduating seniors from the region including a contingent from the Division 1 state champion Everett High School football program.

The game is played annually and benefits the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Cicatelli, who will pick up his NEC Football Coach of the Year Award at an awards banquet Wednesday night at Kowloon, was excited about the opportunity to coach his players one more time.

“Anthony will be playing on the defensive line and Oscar will be a wideout on offense,” said Cicatelli, who is making his second appearance on the Shriners’ coaching staff. “They’ve both been outstanding in our practice sessions. It’s a great honor for our players to represent Revere  and compete in this game and it caps another great season for our program.”

DeStefano and Lopez were both two-time Northeastern Conference All-Stars, helping Revere qualify for the MIAA Playoffs. The 2016 squad completed a successful season with an exciting victory over Winthrop on Thanksgiving.

Cicatelli expects several Revere players to be in Waltham on Saturday to root on the RHS duo.
