“I’ve known that Boston University was the right choice for me even before I entered high school,” explained Revere High School senior, Anela Demir, who recently committed to the prestigious Boston University.

Demir earned her place in the class of 2021 via early decision, a method of college application in which if you are accepted, you are immediately bound and committed to said college or university. “I chose [to apply] early decision because I felt as though there was no reason to wait. I knew where I wanted to go and knew that acceptances to other schools could never change my mind,” chronicled Demir.

Her heart had been set on Boston University from the start, she continued, “Every time I stepped on the campus I just felt like I belonged there and knew that the school was so unique with not only the style of the campus, but also with its academics and diverse community.”

After receiving an email from admissions, the Advanced Placement student chose to wait to be with her parents before revealing the decision. “I finally knew that what I had been dreaming of for so long was now reality,” recalled Demir, who described her reaction as a sense of “relief, excitement, and calmness.” Demir, who is also the Editor and Chief of the school yearbook, and a track and field athlete, was accepted to the Boston University College of Arts and Sciences as a Biology major. She has aspirations to “complete all the necessary requirements for Pre Med.” Demir cited a “laundry list” of teachers who have “influenced her in more ways than one” that she would like to thank. She concluded, “I owe a lot to my close friends and family who were always there for me and supported me in my choice to apply early decision.”
