Toby DiPietro of Peabody, formerly of Revere, entered into rest on December 15 at the age of 75.
The beloved wife of the late Andrew DiPietro, and the devoted mother of Stacy Margossian and her husband, Marc and Amanda DiPietro and her husband, Jim Kukas, all of Peabody; she was the loving grandmother of Jason, Rachael, Emma, Jack and Kate and cherished sister of Nancy Albaneze of California.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Stanetsky-Hymanson Memorial Chapel, Salem. Interment was at Temple Emanuel of Chelsea Cemetery in Danvers. Lucy Cavallo
Recognized for her service to the disabled by the Mayor and City Council
Lucy M. (Mercuri) Cavallo of Revere passed away on December 9 She was 72 years old.
She worked as a visiting nurse’s aide and coordinated activities for disabled and elderly.
During her retirement, she volunteered at the City of Revere Commission on Disabilities and was recognized for her service by the mayor and city council.
The beloved wife of the late Frank Cavallo, she was the loving mother of Ralph Croce and his wife, Amanda of Franklin, Rocco Cavallo of Revere, Lucille Arel of Fitchburg and the late Charlene Croce; dear sister of the late Frank Mercuri and Nancy Crowley; cherished grandmother of Gavin
Croce, Emilie and Jonathan Arel.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to

Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Philip DeAngelo
Retired aircraft engine quality assurance specialist; member of VFW, American Legion, and Knights of Columbus
Philip DeAngelo of Revere, formerly of the North End of Boston, born on February 14, 1920, passed away at the age of 96 on December 15.
Philip attended South Boston High School in the sheet metal program and worked at the Boston Naval Shipyard as a sheet metal worker. He then went on to serve in the United States Army during World War II for the Army Signal Port Service Company. After returning from active duty, he worked at the Boston Naval Shipyard as an electronics technician on radars, communications equipment, and jamming friend or foe equipment, was on the Missile Command as procurement quality and a representative for the Hawk Missile Program and Patriot Missile “Research and Development.â€
He worked on Defense Contracts Administration Service as a procurement quality assurance representative related to aircraft engines. He then went on to work for Rockwell and Boeing Aircraft Companies as a procurement quality assurance specialist related to the B1-Bomber aircraft program, air bus and other military aircraft.
Philip was a member of the VFW Post 2346 in Saugus, the American Legion post 0061 in Revere and the Knights of Columbus Council # 05 in Malden. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Philip was closely involved with the upbringing of his children and grandchildren. He constantly emphasized the importance of education. Family was the most important part of his life, always putting family members first ahead of himself. Philip enjoyed playing the guitar and keyboard.
He was the beloved husband of Antonina “Nina†(Manganaro) for 69 years; devoted father of Frank DeAngelo and his wife, Linda of Revere, Philip DeAngelo of Revere and the late Phyllis Binda; dear brother of Mary Bianco and her husband, Vincent of Medford, Carmella Meehan and her husband, John of Saugus, Charles and his wife, Lucy and Domenic, all of Florida; cherished grandfather of Michael, David, Stephaine and Alicia. He is also survived by five loving great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jeanette Mirabella
Lifelong Revere resident
Jeannette Mirabella, a lifelong resident of Revere, passed away on December 15 at the age of 72 after a long battle with lung cancer.
Jeannette was caring and kind hearted and adored gatherings with family and friends.  She enjoyed traveling, bingo, and crossword puzzles.  Jeannette will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
The cherished “Sister†to Elaine Attenazio, she was the loving godmother of Jeanine, Darrel, and the late Gene Attenazio.

Stephen ‘Steve’ Paone
Coordinator for Eliot Community Services, drawn to religious life and helping the disenfranchised and downtrodden
Stephen T. “Steve†Paone of Wilmington, formerly of Revere, died following a long battle with metastatic cancer on December 13 at Care One at Wilmington.
Born in Everett, he was raised and educated in Revere, graduated from Immaculate Conception Grammar School in 1963 and was a 1967 alumnus of St. Domenic Savio High School of East Boston. He continued his education majoring in mathematics and minoring in philosophy at Boston College and received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1971. Later, he returned to university at Boston University where he was awarded a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 1977. After working for several years in social work, he entered the Maryknoll Missionary Brothers and Fathers serving in the most remote areas in South and Latin America.
A life-threatening illness abruptly ended his work there and he returned to recuperate in Boston. He had a five year career at Walter Fernald School as a counselor and assistant case manager. He worked for nine years for the Eliot Community Services as a coordinator within the Lawrence Division. His recent bout with metastatic disease demanded his resignation from Eliot.
From his youth as a CCD Teacher in his home parish of Immaculate Conception, Steve had a definite draw to the religious life and beyond that, giving and doing for others, especially the downtrodden and disenfranchised. Always active in parish ministries, Steve was a member of the Men’s Group at St. Thomas of Villanova – St. Dorothy Parishes, where he had many faithful and close friends. Stephen moved to Wilmington about 10 years ago.
He was the beloved son of the late Charles P. “Chick†Paone and Lorraine A. (Godfrey) Paone; the cherished brother to Charles P. “Chuck†Paone, Jr. and his wife, Lani of Windham, NH and Therese P. Cox and her husband, Terrence G. Cox of Lynnfield; the devoted uncle to Charles P. “Chip†Paone, III and his fiancée, Christine Michelson, Jonathan T. Paone and his wife, Sarah and Stephanie M. Paone, all of New Hampshire and his godson and nephew, Trevor T. Cox of Lynnfield. He is also lovingly survived by four grand-nephews, John-Henry, Justin, Jake and Jason and three grand-nieces, Jenna, Hailey and Katie. Many faithful and dedicated cousins also survive Steve.

Leo O’Hara
American Airlines retiree; pianist and organist at local clubs and churches
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 22 from 1 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for Leo F. O’Hara, who passed peacefully and in the presence of his Lord on Sunday, December 18 at the Chelsea Soldiers Home where he has been a resident for the past five years. He was 88 years old. His Funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, December 23 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Michael the Archangel Chapel at the Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Avenue, Chelsea at 11 a.m.
Born and raised in Revere, he attended Immaculate Conception Grammar School and High School and was a 1946 graduate of the High School.
Soon after graduation, he joined the US Army in October of 1946 and served with the rank of Private 1st Class through February of 1948. He began a career with American Airlines and rose to the rank of Superviser, retiring after 40 years of service.
Leo lived in Revere until moving to Winthrop in 1978. He was an accomplished musician at the organ and the piano. He played for many years at many of the induction services for the Revere Lodge of Elks, the Loyal Order of Moose and the Winthrop Lodge of Elks and at many events held at these facilities over the years. He was also a long time member of the Revere K of C # 179, the Revere Lodge of Elks the Revere Loyal Order of the Moose and the Winthrop Elks Lodge.
He loved crossword puzzles, football, ballroom dancing and good food. But most of all, he loved deeply and unconditionally his partner, best friend and loving wife, Isabel, His gentle spirit, impish smile and twinkly blue eyes lit up our lives and made our world complete.
A special thankyou to the staff of 1W-west at Chelsea Soldiers’ Home for the wonderful care and attention to Leo these past five years.
He was the cherished step father to Judith A. “Judy†Nee and her husband, John “Jack†and Isabel J. Silva, all of Winthrop. He was the adoring “Pop†to John J. “Jackie†Nee III of South Boston, Thomas J. “Tommy†Nee and Isabelle A. Nee, both of Winthrop; dear brother of the late Revere Police Lt. Joseph O’Hara, Edward T., Thomas P and Revere Patrolman Vincent J. O’Hara. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

Stephen Siraco of Revere, formerly of East Boston, passed away December 19. He was 63 years old.
The cherished son of Mary (Mombourquette) Siraco of Revere, and the late Domenic Siraco, he was the loving father of Stephen, Richard,

Eugene Caponigro
Retired letter carrier
Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours today, Wednesday, December 21 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), Revere for Eugene A. Caponigro, who died on Saturday, December 17 following a long illness at the Jeanne Jugan Nursing Home (Little Sisters of the Poor) in Somerville. Mr. Caponigro’s funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, December 22 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 10 a.m.
Eugene’s parents immigrated from Campagna, Italy in the Salerno region and he was born and raised in East Boston. He was a 1942 graduate of East Boston High School. Shortly after graduating, in February of 1945, he joined the U.S. Army during World War II and served until February of 1947 as a Corporal. He began a career with the US Postal Service in late 1947 as a letter carrier in the Downtown Boston area and then the Everett area. He retired in 1989 after 42 years of service.
A dashingly handsome gentleman, he married the beautiful Margaret “Margie†(Bagley) and they had three devoted and adoring sons.
The couple lived in East Boston for several years before moving to Swampscott. He later would live in Revere for over 20 years. Mr. Caponigro was a long-time member of the DAV and The Lynn Italian-American Citizens’ Club.
The devoted father of Philip A. Caponigro of Essex, Joseph S. Caponigro and his wife, Kelly and Carlo E. Caponigro and his wife, Francesca, all of Swampscott, he is the proud grandfather of Joseph M. Caponigro and his wife, Brittany of Swampscott, Katelyn Caponigro and her fiancee, Andrew Gillis of Laguna, Cailf., Gina M. and Natalie A. Caponigro, both of Essex, Jaymie and John-Joseph Caponigro, both of Swampscott. He is also lovingly survived by his great-grandson, Joseph Carlo Caponigro, his former wife, Margaret “Margie†(Bagley) Caponigro-Chiaraluce of Lynn and by many nieces, nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces. He is the dear brother to Paul S. Caponigro of Revere and the late Aida “Ida†Caponigro, Joseph, Americo and Liberto Caponigro and Robert Cappy.
The family finds it almost impossible to express their immense gratitude to the Little Sisters of the Poor and their extraordinary staf, for the care and attention rendered to Eugene.
