Anna Marino
Spiritual woman who lived a long life, filled with love of family and friends
Anna (Pennise) Marino passed away at her Revere home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, December 6. She was almost 100 years old.
Born in Italy, the daughter of the late Mario and Anna (Pistorio) Pennise, Anna came to the United States when she was three years old. She attended Boston Public Schools and married her beloved husband, Nicholas Marino, when she was just 17 years old.  The couple shared 71 years of marriage before his passing in 2004.
Anna was a retired shoemaker at the former Algy Shoes in Everett.  She made shoes that were sent to the designer stores in New York City.  Having worked in the shoe industry, Anna always had the latest fashion and designer shoe in style.
Anna loved to cook but especially loved to ballroom dance with her husband.  She was a very spiritual woman and was a long time member of the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church in Revere.  She loved music and enjoyed singing along with her church family.
Anna lived a long life, full of love from her family and friends.  She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She was the beloved mother of Nicholas Marino and his wife, Susan of Florida, Janet Aliot of Florida, Diane Howell and her husband, Paul of Revere; mother-in-law of the late Paul Aliot; sister of the late Mary Castiglione and she is also lovingly survived by four grandchildren: Dona Aliot of Florida, Nicholas Marino and his wife, Sandy of Saugus, Joseph Aliot of Billerica and Deborah Marino of Florida and two great granddaughters, Kristen and Marissa Marino of Revere.
Funeral services were conducted at the Full Gospel Assembly of God Church, Revere. Interment followed at St. Michael Cemetery in Boston.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Carafa Family Funeral Home in Chelsea.

George Dunn
Retired Tractor Trailer Truck Driver who delivered Meals on Wheels in Revere
George H. Dunn of Revere and Chelsea, 83 years old, devoted husband of the late Lorraine (Carson) Dunn, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday morning, December 9.
In his younger years, George was very active with the Boy Scouts, loved sports — especially the New York Giants and the Boston Bruins — and was also active with the Salvation Army. He also loved woodworking and being on the road in New England during his working days as a tractor trailer driver. During semi-retirement he delivered meals on wheels with his late wife, Lorraine in Revere.
He leaves his loving children: George E. and his wife, Debra of Revere, Clinton H. and his wife, Deborah of Chelsea, Raymond W. and his wife, Maria of Saugus, Wendy and her husband, Paul of Winchester and Mary Dunn-Todd of Revere. He is also survived by his grandchildren who loved and will miss him: George, Joanna, James, Stephanie, Raymond, Paul, Caitlyn and his great-granddaughter Elaina.

Joseph Mangano
Airline food services retiree
Joseph Mangano of Georgetown, formerly of Revere, died on Tuesday, December 6 at the Masconomet Healthcare of
Topsfield following a long illness.
He was born in San Fernando, Argentina, although the family’s roots were in Italy. As a result of the political and social unrest in Italy during the early–mid 1930’s, the family re-located to Argentina. In 1964, Joseph came to the USA, settling in Hyde Park for two years and then in 1966, moved to Revere. He and his wife, Maria E. (Quillay) Mangano remained in Revere until 2006, when they moved to Georgetown to be closer to their children on the North Shore.
For many years and until retirement, Joseph worked, first for American Airlines until its closing and then moved on to United Airlines. He worked for United as Supervisor of Food Service for more than 20 years until he retired.
He was the beloved husband of Maria E. (Quillay) Mangano of Georgetown; the cherished father of Nancy M. DeMarco and her husband, James L. of Ipswich, Richard J. Mangano and his wife, Dina of Georgetown and Elizabeth M. Heath and her husband, Marc C. of West Peabody;  the devoted grandfather of James L. DeMarco of Boston, Marc C. Heath of Peabody, Max J. Mangano and his wife, Coley of Watertown, Paige M. DeMarco of Ipswich, Briana A. Heath of Peabody, Joseph R., Anabella M. and Nico A. Mangano, all of Georgetown.

James Lewis
GE Retiree
James E. Lewis of Revere passed away on November 30 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston following a long illness. He was 76 years old.
Born in Somerville, he was raised and educated in Medford and graduated from Medford High School in 1956. In August of 1961, he entered the US Army during the Vietnam Era and was honorably discharged on October 23, 1962 as a Pvt. E-2.
Mr. Lewis began his career with General Electric of Lynn as an aircraft parts inspector. Due to declining health, he was forced to accept a position within the maintenance division at GE to complete his 25 year GE career.
He was the beloved husband of 44 years to Suzanne A. (Mathews) Lewis. The couple settled in Revere in October of 1973 after their marriage. He was the devoted father of Daniel J. Lewis of Revere and Edward E. Lewis and his wife, Daniela of Woburn; the cherished grandfather of Erin A. and Matthew C. Lewis, both of Revere and he had the anticipated joy of expecting his third grandchild in January of 2017. He was the dear brother of Rose Baiardi and Terry Nicelli, both of Marshfield and the loving brother-in-law of Edward J. Matthews of Stoneham, Robert J. Matthews of Gilford, NH and Richard T. Matthews of Lynnfield. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces and nephews.

Gene Anthony ‘Geno’ Vadala
US Postal Service retiree
Gene Anthony ‘Geno†Vadala, a resident of Revere for 49 years, formerly of the North End of Boston, passed away after a brief illness at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital surrounded by his family.
Born and raised in Boston’s North End, he was schooled there and settled there with his beloved
wife, Marie “Chickie†(Arigo) Vadala, with whom he shared 50 years of marriage and who
passed in September of 2000. The couple left the North End in 1967 and moved to Revere where they
spent the remainder of their lives.
Geno was most proud to have served for 34 years, with the US Postal Service at the GPO of the U.S. Post Office in Post Office Square, Boston, as a letter carrier.
He was the cherished father of Mark J. Vadala of Saugus, Gene Vadala and his wife, Erin of
Rowley, Thomas J. Vadala of Marblehead and Sandra M. Chesna and her husband, John of Revere; the devoted grandfather of Owen Vadala of Rowley and Dominic and Thomas Chesna, both of Revere; the dear brother of Santa Zagami of Watertown and the late John Vadala. He is also lovingly survived by his adoring niece, Victoria Zagami of Watertown and cousin, Marie Serino of Revere. He shared a most tender relationship with his canine companion “Tobyâ€.

Anna Carroll
Retiree of McCord & Winn of Woburn and Dunkin Donuts
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Friday, December 16 at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere for Anna C. (Gioia) Carroll who died at her daughter’s home in Beverly, following a long illness.
She was 82 years old.
Born and raised in Boston’s North End, she lived in Revere, Everett, Hollbrook and Methuen. Four years ago, she moved to her daughter’s Beverly home. Anna held many jobs in her working career and did spend over 15 years at the former McCord & Winn Inc. of Woburn as an assembler. Later, she worked for the Dunkin’ Donuts Franchise in the Woburn area.
She was the wife of the late Robert W. Carroll and the beloved mother of Gina Ellis of Beverly, Charles W. Self and his wife, Dawn of Lynn, Paul J. Self of Arizona, Angelo G. Self of Methuen and the late Mark S. Self; the dear sister of Dominic Gioia of Malden and the late Paul, Salvatore, Anthony, Frank A., Joseph and Angelo B. Gioia; the cherished grandmother of Amanda Marie Hannon of Malden, Daniel Robert Ellis, Adam Richard Ellis and Marianna Theresa Ellis, all of Beverly. She is also lovingly survived by her daughter-in-law, Linda Self of Florida, 11 other grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.

John Tankevich, Jr.
Retired Massachusetts State Computer Engineer
John J. Tankevich, Jr. of Saugus died following a long illness at his Saugus residence on Wednesday, December 7. He was 77 years old.
Mr. Tankevich was born, raised and educated in South Peabody. He attended Peabody schools and was a 1956 graduate of Peabody High School. He entered the US Air Force in September of 1956 and served until September of 1960. He fulfilled his military obligation with the US Air Force Reserves in September of 1962, retiring with the rank of Master Sgt.
After receiving his degree from Northeastern University in advanced computer science, he married Patricia A. (Sweeney) of Revere and the couple settled in Everett for five and half years before moving to Saugus in 1976. He entered the work force via the Commonwealth of Massachusetts within the Division of Finance at the State House in Boston. He held that position from 1966 until his retirement in 2004.
John was a long-time member of the Elks Lodge #2071 of Billerica.
He was the beloved husband of 46 years to Patricia A. (Sweeney) Tankevich; the devoted father of Tracie A. Tankevich and her companion, Richard A. Heald of Newfield, Maine, Tricia L. DiDomenico and her husband, State Senator Sal DiDomenico of Everett, and Jaclyn M. McPherson and her husband, Dustin S. of Derry, NH; the cherished grandfather of Matthew S. and Sal J.DiDomenico and Jonathan P. and Jaxson C. McPherson. He was the dear brother of Richard L. Tankevich of Kalispell, Montana and the late Ronald and Florence
Tankevich;Â the outstanding uncle to David Roseman and his wife, Julie of White Plains, NY, Katherine R. McVay of Brooklyn, NY., Cara A. Sweeney of South Boston, Samantha R. Rosalyn Gallagher
Talented artist and seamstress of Maine, formerely of Revere
Rosalyn J. Gallagher of Cornish, Maine, formerly
Of Revere, died on Sunday, December at Ledgewood Manor Nursing Home in North Windham after a long illness. She was 78 years old.
Born in Boston, on December 8, 1937, a daughter of David and Sarah (Miller) Gray, she attended Mass. schools and graduated from Revere High School in 1955. She was a talented artist and attended the Museum of Fine Arts School of Painting.
She married Edward Gallagher on July 11, 1964.
Rosalyn was a devoted homemaker her entire life, but always remained a creative artist and was a very talented seamstress.  She was active in Maine Women in the Arts, exhibiting her paintings in the Portland Sidewalk Art Festival and other local venues. She truly loved spending time over the years at their cottage on Pequawket Lake in Limington, ME.
Besides to her husband, she was also predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Martin Gray and a sister, Leatrice Gray. She is survived by her son, Lawrence Gallagher and his companion, Julia Piehler of Mountain View, CA; her daughter, Stephanie Dixon and her husband, David of Cornish, Maine; two grandsons, Eddie and Daniel Dixon of Cornish, ME, a brother, Michael Gray of Wisconsin and a sister, Bonnie Gray of Washington State.

A tall and beautiful graceful spirit
Kathryn Olivia “Katie†Haggerty of Tewksbury, a native of Winthrop, passed unexpectedly at her Tewksbury residence on Saturday, December 3.
Kathryn Olivia Haggerty was loved from the first moment of her existence by her mother and father, Lisa and Paul. She was a beautiful baby, adored by Auntie Jen and Uncle Brian and by
Mae and Poppy; by Nana and all the Haggerty aunts, uncles and cousins. Later she found joy in her sister, Beth, and her cousins Andrew and Aiden, who lost their precious Katie too soon. Katie
was kind and sweet. She enjoyed the absurd and could be funny and goofy with her friends.
Often she would text “mumma†silly things she found on the internet. She enjoyed going on weekend adventures with her dad. Katie was tall and beautiful, a graceful free spirit. She taught herself to hoop and enjoyed showing off her skills. Her mother will always remember the peaceful expression on her face as she twirled her hoops around herself, turning and moving, happy.
She loved, among many things, Shiba Inu dogs; her cat, Kit, whom she adopted from a rescue shelter; music festivals; Harry Potter; her collection of boots; binging shows on Netflix; all kinds of music; using social media; and spending time with her boyfriend, Peter Mirata and her best friends, Denisha Johnson and Matt Grant. She graduated in 2014 from Northeast Metro Tech in Wakefield.

Alfred ‘Big Al’ DiSalvo
R.Zoppo Corporation retiree and member of Sons of Italy in Revere
Alfred “Big Al†DiSalvo of Peabody died on December 11.
Al was a Sergeant First Class in the United States Army as a paratrooper during the Korean Conflict. He retired from R Zoppo Corporation after 40 years and was a member of the Sons of Italy in Revere. He loved his wife Marilyn dearly and over the years the two traveled extensively. Al was an avid Red Sox fan, enjoyed golfing, and had a sweet tooth for jelly donuts. He would keep busy around the house with different projects or hobbies. Al’s grand kids meant the world to him and he never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
The beloved husband of 59 years to Marilyn DiSalvo, he was the devoted father of Margie DiSalvo of Peabody, Janice Santarpio and her husband, Frank of Middleton and the late Linda DiSalvo; cherished papa of Savanna, Tia, and Samantha; dear bother of Nancy Gallante, James, Albert and Dennis DiSalvo, and the late Nicky DiSalvo. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, December 15 at 11 a.m.in St. Adelaide’s Parish in Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
