Coty Ransom

Dept. of Revenue employee; died by accident

Coty L. Ransom of Peabody died by accident on November 21.

Coty was an employee at the Department of Revenue for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

He was the husband of Marie (Tigges) Ransom; devoted father of twin girls, Arianna and Amaya; beloved son of Louise Ransom of Boston and the late Billy Haywood Ransom; dear brother of Susan Ransom, Janice Ransom-Barnes, Darryl Ransom and Anzel Ransom, all of Boston, Billy Ransom of North Carolina and the late Eddie Ingram. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Patrice Marie Devine

Kind hearted and caring, she dearly loved her family

Patrice Marie Devine of Revere died on November 17.

Patrice was kind hearted and caring and loved her family dearly. She enjoyed crocheting and knitting while listening to her favorite Irish music. Patrice was a lover of all animals.

The beloved companion of Bill Sullivan of Revere, she was the devoted mother of Shaun Devine and Ellen Leary and her husband, James, all of Revere; dear sister of Ellen Agostinelli and her husband, Ronald of West Roxbury, and the late Anne Lazzara and the cherished grandmother of Katelyn Leary. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were by the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, Revere. At the family’s request, all of the services were privately held. Arthur Weaver, Sr.

Retired Master Mechanic for Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 1 from 9 to 11 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) Revere for Arthur E. Weaver, Sr., who died following a long illness on Sunday, November 20 at the Continuing Care Unit at Brooksby Village, Peabody. Mr. Weaver’s funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:15 a.m., in the funeral home with the Rev. Nicholas G. Granitsas, Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Revere officiating. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery,,Everett.

Mr. Weaver was born and raised in Revere, attended Revere schools and was a 1947 graduate of Revere High School. He entered the U.S. Army in March of 1951 during the Korean Conflict and served until December of 1952 as a Sergeant. His working career was with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as a Master Mechanic. He traveled throughout the state as a Lead Mechanic and Shop Supervisor repairing the “big” trucks used in special construction projects. He retired with more than 30 years of service. He was also a long-time member and officer of the “Cy Tenney” Club of Peabody. He spent most of his life in Revere (Point of Pines Section) before moving to Brooksby Village with his wife, the late Alice E. (Twomey) Weaver in 2005. Mrs. Weaver passed on March 19, 2014.

He was the devoted father of Arthur E. Weaver Jr.and his wife, Donna of Oviedo, Florida and David M. Weaver of Tewksbury; the cherished grandfather of Andrew E. Weaver of Oveido, Florida, David M. ”D.J.” Weaver. Jr. of Tewksbury and Jessica N. Weaver of Wilmington; the brother of the late Claire A. “Sis” Smith, Mildred Covitz and Ernest M. Weaver, Jr. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, who were most faithful to “Uncle Arthur.”

Francis Hyland, Jr.

Retired Revere Health Inspector

Francis W. Hyland, Jr. a three year resident of Lynn, a former 40-year resident of Revere and a Winthrop native, passed unexpectedly on Monday evening, November 21 at Tufts Medical Center of Boston.

Raised in Winthrop, he attended Winthrop schools and was a 1963 graduate of Winthrop High School. He continued his education at Newbury College where he was awarded an Associate’s Degree in Business Management.

“Franny,” as he was affectionately known, enlisted in the U.S. Navy in September of 1965 and served until August of 1971 as an Electrician’s Mate 1st Class. For over 20 years, he had a working career as a Master Electrician with the former “General Ship” in East Boston. He later became involved with Revere City Government and served for over 15 years as a Health Inspector for the City of Revere. After retiring from Revere City Hall, he worked as a dispatcher for Complete Cleaning of Lynn for about five years.

Mr. Hyland lived in Revere for about 42 years before moving to Lynn three years ago. He was a long-time member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish of Revere and a member of St. Anthony’s Holy Name Society.

He was the beloved husband of 44 years to Diane G. (Ysusi) Hyland; the cherished father of Kimberly L. Perry and her husband, Vance Perry of Marblehead and Miss Kelli A. Hyland and her companion, Bill Adams of Lynn; the dear brother of the late Suzanne McCarthy and is also lovingly survived by his brother-in-law, Ed McCarthy and his family of Billerica.

Robert Caponigro

Salesman for Bernie & Phyl’s of Saugus

Robert E. Caponigro, a 30 year resident of Revere, formerly of Winthrop, died unexpectedly on Monday evening, November 28 at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital. He was 68 years old.

Born in Winthrop, he attended Winthrop Schools and was a 1968 graduate of Winthrop High School. “Bob” spent almost 30 years with “Bernie & Phyl’s Furniture Showcase of Saugus” as a salesman and popular personality. In the 1970’s, during the Vietnam Era, “Bob” served in the US Army National Guard.

He was the son of the late George and Sabatina “Sally” (Rella) Caponigro; the cherished brother of George Caponigro Jr. and his wife, Julie of Canton, Georgia and the late Richard J. Caponigro; the beloved nephew of Ann M. Gallucci and her late husband, Victor of Derry, NH, Sabino Rella and his wife, Judith of San Diego, California and Louis Rella of Winthrop. He was the devoted uncle to: Ann Marie Tinkham and her husband, Gerald A. of Salisbury, James J. Caponigro of Newburyport, R. Michael Caponigro and his wife, Danielle of Newburyport, Christine Contrell and her husband, Jeff of Canton, Georgia, Sarah Williams of Woodstock, Georgia, Nicholas, Alexander and Gregory Caponigro, all of Amesbury. He is also lovingly survived by his sister in law, Kathleen M. Wise of Salisbury and by many faithful grandnieces and grandnephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, December 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, December 2 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere Street, Revere at 11 a.m. Interment will be in the family lot at Winthrop Cemetery, Winthrop (the Old Cemetery.)
