Sand Sculpting Festival A Big Success

The International Sand Sculpting Festival lived up to expectation and then some, drawing more than one million visitors to the city’s treasure known as Revere Beach.

The Revere Beach Partnership deserves a lot of credit for organizing this “phenomenal” (the adjective used by award-winning sculptor Dan Belcher of Missouri) event and maintaining its stature as the preeminent sand sculpting festival in the world.

And by “the world,” we mean it because there were competitors from all over the globe competing in festival at Revere Beach.

With its food trucks, amusements, and booths along the boulevard, the festival rekindles memories of the days when Revere Beach was the place for families to spend their summer days and nights.

By attracting one million visitors, the festival is a public relations jewel for our city and the beach.

We congratulate John Hamel and the Revere Beach Partnership for their outstanding efforts for this year’s festival and we look forward to the 2017 event.

Thanks to the Partnership, Revere is the undisputed home of sand sculpting – much like Coney Island is to the hot dog eating contest.
