Revere Supt. Dianne Kelly announced that she has named a new assistant superintendent to replace Chris Malone, who is leaving to become the superintendent in Tewksbury.

Josh Vadala, currently the assistant principal at the Whelan School, will become the new assistant superintendent for pupil personnel services.

Vadala is a graduate of Boston College and holds a doctorate from UMass-Boston. He has specialized in special education and will be assuming responsibility for the district’s special education program, which is what Malone was doing.

He has taught or been an administrator at the elementary, middle school and high school levels.
