Carole Lipson

Of Revere

Private services and entombment at the Woodlawn Cemetery Columbarium in Everett were held for Carole T. (Schwade) Lipson, who passed away on June 1 at Boston Medical Center.

Born and raised in Revere, she attended local schools. Following High School, she married Alan A. Lipson and together they raised their family in Revere. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Alan in June of 2015. Aside from being a devoted wife and mother, Carole also worked outside of the home for a number of years as a desk clerk for the Fenway Hotel Chain, which later become Howard Johnson’s.

She was the beloved wife of the late Alan A. Lipson; devoted mother of Mark L. Lipson and his wife, Carol A. of Newbury, Laurie J. Lipson and her companion, Thomas Hetherington of Tewksbury and Audrey G. Hudson and her husband, Thomas of Saugus;  the cherished grandmother of J’Aime Scimemi and her husband, Joseph of Revere, Talia Bruzzese of Tewksbury and the late Taylor E. Richards. She was an expectant great-grandmother eagerly awaiting the arrival of her first great-granddaughter and great grandmother of the late Salvatore Alan; dear sister of Michael S. Schwade and his wife, Ana of Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

John Prendergast

Of New Hampshire, formerly of Revere

John A. Prendergast of Glen, NH, formerly of Revere, died on June 3.

John was a provider, hardworking and was devoted to his family.

He was the beloved son of the late Thomas and Helen (Foley); loving husband to the late Dorothy Gillis; cherished father of Donna and her husband, Larry of Glen, NH and John and his wife, Heidi of Revere; adoring grandfather of Christina, Matthew and Christopher Prendergast and dear brother of the late Helen Prendergast.

His Funeral will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere Street, Revere today Wednesday, June 8 at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery Chapel in Everett at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.  Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Carmine ‘Happy’ Sciaraffa

RMV Retiree, staunch supporter of the late George Colella

Carmine “Happy” Sciaraffa, a lifelong Revere resident, died on June 4 at Brentwood of Danvers. He was 95 years old.

Happy retired from the registry of motor vehicles, he loved singing and was always performing at family and friend events. He was an avid Red Sox fan and attended spring training faithfully for many years. Happy loved local politics and was a staunch supporter of the late George Colella.

He was the beloved son of the late Euplio and Catherine (Sarno); devoted brother of the late Louise DeCristoforo and Patsy Sciaraffa; dear uncle of Linda DeCristoforo of Revere and Paul DeCristoforo of Dartmouth and the great uncle of Michael DeCristoforo. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.

His funeral will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere today,  Wednesday, June 8 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St Anthony’s Church at 11:30 a.m.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery. Felix DeSisto

Decorated World War II veteran; former Director of Revere Public Health Department and former Revere Fire Fighter

Felix F. DeSisto of Winthrop, formerly of Revere, died on June 1.

Felix was the longest member on record of the Winthrop Golf Club. He was a US Army Air Force veteran of World War II and the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 2 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters. He flew 35 strategic bombing missions in the B-24 Liberator heavy bomber in the European Theater during World War II, and enjoyed sharing stories of his wartime experiences. Prior to becoming the Director of the Revere Public Health Department Felix was a Revere Fire Fighter for 15 years.

He was the beloved husband of the late Emily A. (Cicatelli); devoted father of Elisa Moriarty and her husband, Michael (US Army veteran) of Florida, Paul DeSisto (Lt. Col. USAF (retired)) and his wife, Kim of New Jersey, Rena DeSisto of New York City and Thomas and his wife, Lauragale D’Amico of Revere; dear brother of Olga Lepito and the late Harold DeSisto, both of Revere. He is also survived by two loving grandchildren, Cara and Tia DeSisto of New Jersey.

Jennie ‘Joanne’ Jankun

John Hancock retiree

Jennie “Joanne” (Maniscalco) Jankun of Revere died on June 5 at the MGH.

Joanne was a former nurse’s aide at the Grover Manor Hospital in Revere and retired from John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Born in Boston, the daughter of the late Accurzio and Antonetta (Primo) Maniscalco, she was the beloved wife of the late John Jankun, the devoted mother of Mary Kelley and her late husband, Lawrence of Revere, Annette Jankun of Peabody, Walter and his wife, Wendy of FloridaL, and the late Gus; dear sister of Antonetta Sposito of Revere, Salvatore Maniscalco and his wife, Joan of Andover, Gus Maniscalco and his wife, Christine of Tewksbury and the late Pasquale, James and his surviving wife, Mary, Charles, Joseph, Frank, Anthony, and Catherine; cherished grandmother of John and his wife, Jiny, Michael and his wife, Kelly, Christopher, Anthony, Kayla, Sarah, Katie and great grandmother to Emma and Lia. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St, Revere on Thursday June 9 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church at 10 a.m.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited.  Visitation will be today, Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joanne’s name to St Jude’s Hospital Children’s Research, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Joseph ‘Joe’ Palermo

Of Lynnfield

Joseph “Joe” Palermo of Lynnfield died on June 4.

Joseph worked for the Local 4 as a machine operator and enjoyed taking his Corvette and motorcycle out for rides.

The beloved son of the late Peter and Evelyn (Cella), he was the dear brother to Linda Harris and her late husband, Frank of Oxford, Peter Jr. of Oregon, Paul and his wife, Ana Maria of Seabrook NH, and Donna Palermo of Stoneham.  Joe is also survived by his loving niece, Gia Michele. He had a large extended family that included Emily Zaccaria and her children, Michael Zaccaria, Gregory Simone, Victoria Simone, Daniel Zaccaria, Jayme Sweeney, and grandchildren Natalia and Michael Zaccaria.

His Funeral Service will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home on Friday, June 10 at 7 p.m.  Relatives and friends are kindly invited.  Visitation will be on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe’s name to the family to assist with funeral expenses.  Interment will be private.  For guest book please visit www.Buonfiglio.com
