Frank Charak, formerly of Chelsea and Revere, died on Monday, May 2. He was 95 years old.
A proud US Army veteran of World War II, he was a recipient of the Purple Heart and Silver Star.
He was the beloved husband of one month shy of 69 years to Marilyn (Saltzman) Charak, the devoted father of Gail Volk and her husband, Douglas and Kenneth Charak and his wife, Adrienne.; the loving son of the late Joseph and Goldie (Katz) Charak; dear brother of the late Bernard Charak, the late Gertrude Stepansky and sister in law Jean Charak; loving grandfather of Adam and Danielle Illfelder, Jonathan Volk and Alan Le, Rachelle and Elliot Carlson and Jessica Charak and great-grandfather of Ilana, Isabelle, Benjamin Illfelder, Ana Jane Carlson and Martin Charak Carlson.
Services will be held at the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Ave., Cary Square, Chelsea on Thursday, May 5 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Chevra Kadisha Cemetery, Everett. MBTA Fare Collector
Jean A. (Curtin) Flynn of Saugus, formerly of Revere and Chelsea, died on Sunday, May 1 at the Grosvenor Nursing Facility in Salem.
Born and raised in Chelsea, she was the daughter of the late Henry D. and Ida (MacDonald) Curtin. A resident of Revere for several years before moving to Saugus, Mrs. Flynn worked as a fare collector for the MBTA. Her favorite hobby was collecting celebrity autographs.
She is survived by her three sons: Lawrence Flynn and his wife, Mary of Swampscott, Brian Flynn and his wife, Renee of Florida and Shawn Flynn and his wife, Jean of Lynnfield and her grandchildren; Riain, Casey and Kiley. She was the sister of Claire Coco and John H. Curtin, both of Revere.
Visiting hours will be held in the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, 549 Lincoln Ave., Saugus on Monday, May 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Homemaker and lifelong Revere resident
Private services and interment were held for Sandra L. (Fusco) Popps, a homemaker and a lifelong Revere resident who died unexpectedly at the Whidden Memorial Hospital on April 12. She was 54 years old.
Mrs. Popps was born, raised and educated in Revere and was a 1979 graduate of Revere High School.
She was the beloved wife of the late Louis A. Popps, cherished daughter of Marie D. (Catino) Fusco of Revere and the late John L. Fusco; devoted mother of Lyndsay M. Popps of Lynn and the late Louis A. Popps Jr.; dear sister of: Sherry A. Marino and her husband, Robert of Saugus, Dorothy M. Pimentel of Revere and the late Stephen A. Fusco. She is also lovingly survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Edward Lowney

Edward F. Lowney of Winthrop, formerly of Revere and East Boston, passed away surrounded by his family on April 30. He was 84 years old.
Ed was a graduate of East Boston High School and a U. S. Army veteran, serving during the Korean War in the U.S. Army 45th Infantry Div. 180th Tank Co, holding the rank of Sergeant 1st Class. Prior to his retirement, Ed was a long time employee of N.E. Telephone Co. He was a loving father dedicated to his family and he enjoyed sailing.
He was the devoted husband of 55 years to Catherine F. (Brazil) Lowney. Ed leaves his loving children, Mary Ann Mahoney and her husband, Matt of Winthrop, Kathleen Kennedy and her husband, Jack of Wakefield, Edward Lowney and his wife, Erin of Easton, and Daniel J. Lowney and his wife, JoAnne of Winthrop. He also leaves his adoring grandchildren: Ann, Meg and Joe Mahoney, Jack Kennedy and his fiancée, Anne Czaplinski, Katie Kennedy and her fiancée, Jared Byrne, Daniel and Allison Kennedy, Julia, Jessica and Dana Lowney and Daniel T. Lowney. He was the dear brother of Virginia Dill of Revere and the late Herbert and Robert Lowney and Marie Zachar and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Friday, May 6 at 9 s.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St., Winthrop at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be held later at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Philip Victor Ceccarossi
Of Florida, formerly of Revere
Philip Victor Ceccarossi passed away on April 18 at his home in Pensacola, Florida surrounded by family following a a brief battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 63 years old.
Philip was born February 15, 1953. He grew up in Revere and graduated from Revere High School in 1970. He attended St. Anthony’s Church when he was a child and later became active in congregational churches around the North Shore.
Philip had a successful career as a real estate appraiser and served as the Vice President at Fidelity Appraisals in North Andover. At the time of his death, he worked for Wells Fargo.
He was preceded in death by his father Philip C. Ceccarossi and mother Maria DeInnocentis, who were both from Orsogna, Italy. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Brenda Brown Ceccarossi, his three children from a previous marriage: Bruce Howard Ceccarossi and his wife, Amanda Ceccarossi; Kristi Ceccarossi and her wife, Darry Madden; and Marc Ceccarossi and his fianceé, Heather Slavin; and three stepsons: John M. McGaha, Jr. and his wife Chrissy; Joseph Allen McGaha and his wife, Joy and James Andrew McGaha and his wife, Michele. He is also survived by his sisters, Joanne Sarmanian and Maddalena “Lynne†Cardinale and her husband, Andrew Cardinale; a brother, Robert Ceccarossi; 12 grandchildren, one great grandchild, aunts and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Philip was interred following a funeral service in Pensacola, Florida on April 20.A memorial service will be held at St. Anthony’s Church in Revere on May 14 at 11 a.m. Friends and family are welcome.

Nancy Pineau
Loved nature, animals, and helping the needy
Nancy A. Pineau of Revere and Haverhill passed away on April 26 surrounded by family and friends at Merrimack Valley Hospice after a brief battle with cancer. She was 65 years old.
Nancy loved nature, especially the beach. She also loved animals and adored her dog Elvis. More than anything, she cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed attending church and possessed a strong faith. She was a gentle, kind person, generous with her time caring for others. She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be sadly missed.
The eldest of five siblings born on October 17, 1950 to Arthur and Barbara Pineau, Nancy was raised in Revere and graduated from Revere High School in 1968. She married in 1971 and moved to Haverhill in 1975 where she raised a family. She worked as a nurse’s assistant at various hospitals and nursing homes as she liked working with the elderly.
After becoming disabled in 2006, Nancy moved back to Revere where she kept active in her church as a volunteer providing food preparation and child care service to feed the homeless and help the needy.
She is survived by her son Keith Hawksley and his wife, Laura of Haverhill, her son Eric Hawksley and his wife, Cheryl of Sandown N.H. and her son Andrew Hawksley of Haverhill. She was also the mother of the late Brad Hawksley.
Nancy is also survived by her sister Sue Rodgers, her daughter-in-law Jessica Mottram and four grandchildren: Erik, Ryan, Kirsten and Brad Jr.
A memorial service to be held on Saturday, May 7 at 12 noon at The First Congregational Church, 230 Beach St., Revere is open to those who would like to attend.

Retired sales clerk
Barbara S. Freitas, a lifelong Chelsea resident, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 27 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers following a home accident. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Freitas was born and raised in Chelsea and was a 1954 graduate of Chelsea High School. Most of her working career was as a saleswoman for Boston Department Stores, including Filene’s and Macy’s at the Northshore Mall for over 25 years.
She was the wife of the late John T. Freitas and the cherished mother of James M. Freitas of Winthrop, John D. Freitas of Palm Coast, FL., William T. Freitas and his wife, Lenore K. of South Natick, Mariann Freitas of Groveland and the late Robert Freitas; the dear sister of Jean Abbott andher husband, Robert and Chester “Sonny†Wozniak, all of Malden, Patricia Wozniak of Woburn and the late Joseph Wozniak. She is also lovingly survived by her faithful sister-in-law, Ann Freitas of Chelsea with whom she made her home, seven grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nieces andnephews.

John William-Francis Searle
Of Maine, formerly of Revere
John William-Francis Searle of Maine, formerly of Revere, died on April 28 after a long illness.
The son to the late John “Jake†Searle and Jean “Jen†DeDominici, he lived in Revere for over 30 years. For the last 33 years, John has lived in Maine.
John was a great athlete and while attending Revere High was a middle linebacker on the football team. After high school, he attended a Military Academy in Tulsa, Oklahoma for two years. But John’s true passion was music and that is where he worked for over 40 years with many major recording artists as a production manager.
He was the beloved husband of Margaret “Maggie†Roland-Searle for. 32 years. John met Maggie while she worked at the Banyan Club in Ipswich when he came to visit his brother who worked there.
John was the loving father of John Searle Jr. and Michelle Searle,both of Seattle, and David Searle of Maine. He is also survived by his two loving grandchildren and a brother, Eugene Searle of Florida.

Aida Marie (Ross) Baker of Saugus, formerly of Chelsea, passed away on Thursday, April 28. She was 67 years old. , The cherished daughter of the late James Ross and Margaret (Ginnelli) Lockey and her late step-father Clarence Lockey, she was the beloved wife of the late William Baker, loving mother of James J. Baker and his wife, Shemika, Ross Baker and his late wife, Jennifer, Kenney Baker and his wife, Penny and the late William Baker; adored grandmother of Allen, Christopher, Destiany, Jacqueline, Kenny, Victoria, Nicole, Antonio, Abigail and the late Coito James and great-grandmother of Giovanni. She was the caring sister of Theresa and her wife, Joann Traficante, Andy Ross and his wife, Patty, Bill Ross and his wife, Robin, Wayne Ross and the late James Ross, Ricky Ross and Kathy and her partner, Rita Cotio. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Nicky Ross and by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
