Triple Shooting Stuns Waite St Neighborhood

A Lynn man has been arraigned on two counts of murder for a triple shooting that unfolded Thursday night, Dec. 10, on Waite Street.

Michael DeLeon, 36, of Lynn, was arraigned in Chelsea District Court on Monday to face charges that he killed Peter Pitari, 66, and Cristy Johnson, 35, and seriously wounded a 35-year-old man he allegedly shot in the face.

There was no motive given for the alleged shooting during the arraignment, but Assistant District Attorney David Fredette told the court that Revere Police responded to 70 Waite St. shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 10 and located the three victims.

All were rushed to area hospitals, with Pitari and Johnson dying there. The third victim is expected to survive.

A massive investigation unfolded over the next day, and Revere Police and State Police announced the identification of the suspect and his arrest in Quincy on Friday.

The Waite Street home has not shown up on regular Police Logs recently for any noticeable activity. Neither victim nor DeLeon has been on the police radar either, though one victim is known to Revere Police. The investigation still remains active. DeLeon is represented by Jack Cunha, and he returns to court Jan. 20.
