A goal that was disallowed by the refs proved the difference in the Revere High hockey team’s 5-4 loss to Dedham in the first round of the state hockey tournament. Paul Bright, Steve DiCarlo, Mike Troisi, and DiCarlo again scored the goals for the Patriots, DiCarlo’s second lamplighter coming with 3:27 to play. Revere pulled goalie Bob Troisi with about a minute to play for a sixth skater, and the move seemed to pay off when Revere scored the apparent tying tally with two seconds left to play in regulation after a wild melee in front of the Dedham net. However, the ref overruled the goal judge, saying that the puck did not completely cross the goal line.
