Louis DePatto

Of Revere

Louis A. DePatto of Revere died on February 22.

He was the beloved husband of the late Anna F. (Falzone) DePatto; devoted father of Kenneth L. and his wife, Sharon of Saugus, Louis B. and his wife, Janet of Marshfield, Dana A. of New York and the late Stephen J. ; dear brother of Frank DePatto and his wife, Ellen of Chelsea and the late Adeline Surrette, Theresa Cote, Angelo DePatto and Samuel DePatto and cherished grandfather of Matthew, Stephen, Jared and Andrew DePatto and Krystina Sullo. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

His Funeral will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons~Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere on Thursday, February 26 at 8 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church at 9 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Joseph Crivello

Boston Globe retiree and Journal typesetter

John Crivello of Maryland and Florida, formerly of Revere, died recently.

He was born on September 21 1925, to Cosima and Dominic Crivello, He grew up in Revere and after graduating from Revere High School in 1943, he joined the US Navy as a signalman serving on the liberty ship Thomas Stone in the North Atlantic until 1946. Upon his return to Revere, Joe worked as an apprentice typesetter at the Revere Journal until 1955 when he was hired by the Boston Globe.

Shortly after returning from his Navy service, Joe met Rosemarie Aucella, also from Revere, whom he married in 1950. Joe and Rosemarie had two children, Paul, who died in 1982, and Donna, who joined him working at the Globe in 1982.

In 1991, Joe and Rosemarie bought property in Imperial Wilderness in Naples, Florida, and began spending winters there. When Joe retired from the Globe in 1998, he and Rosemarie joined their daughter, Donna in Baltimore, where he regularly served as the charming host in Donna’s restaurant during summers and made many friends among the customers but also among the staff at the restaurant. Joe and Rosemarie continued to spend their winters in Florida. Joe enjoyed many wonderful years with their friends at Imperial Wilderness, swimming, playing games- especially bridge– and riding his bike.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosemarie, his daughter, Donna and her husband, Peter, and by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mary Cardillo

Life long Revere resident; dedicated to family

Mary R. ((Alba) Cardillo, a lifelong Revere resident, died at the Melrose – Wakefield Hospital following a brief illness. She was 89 years old.

Born and raised in Revere, Mary was educated in Revere Schools and was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1944. On June 24, 1951, Mary married her love, John G. Cardillo. The couple made their home in Revere and began their family. Mary loved her family and being a mother. In later years she was blessed as a grandmother and then a great grandmother. She enjoyed being around her family and enjoying and sharing her love with them.

She was the devoted wife of the late John G. Cardillo with whom she shared 60 years of marriage with; the loving mother of Paula Cardillo and LuAnn Cardillo, both of Revere; cherished grandmother of Kristyn Ann Pardi and her husband, James of Stoneham and Lauren Ann Kulakowski of Revere. She is also lovingly survived by her great granddaughter, Juliana Maria Pardi and her great grandson Justin John Pardi. She was the beloved sister of Eleanor Aiello, Anna McCarthy, Benjamin Alba, all of Revere and the late Anthony Alba and is also lovingly survived by several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and by her canine companion “Jack.”

John McDonough

Former Kayem employee; member of Revere Elks and former member of Chelsea Moose

John McDonough of Chelsea, died unexpectedly on January 26. He was 52 years old.

John was a former 20 year Kayem employee. He was a member of the Revere Elks, a former member of the Chelsea Moose and an avid Boston Bruins fan. H

He was the devoted husband of 24 years to Cheryl“Bunny” (Comeau) McDonough; stepfather of Jamie Lubanski and her husband, John of Everett and Mike Lewis of Chelsea; loving grandfather of four. John was also the cherished son of Joan Embree of Revere; dear brother of Scott Embree and his wife, Melissa of Revere and loving uncle of Katherine, Abigail and Grace Embree. He is also survived by his aunt Patricia Sullivan of Chelsea, John McDonough of Randolph, Joseph McDonough of Salisbury and the late Marsha Couch of Revere.

Mary Stavropoulos

Active Volunteer

Mary J. (Bellofatto) Stavroppoulos of Revere, formerly of Everett and New York City, died at Annemark Nursing & Rehabilitation Center of Revere on February 20. She was 93 years old.

Born in Boston’s North End, her family later moved to Everett where she was raised and educated. Mary married Paul Stavropoulos later in life and the couple moved to New York City where they resided for many years. Mary had worked in fashion and she enjoyed her time living in New York.

Mary and her husband returned to the Boston area to be closer to her family about 15 years ago. She was an active volunteer for several churches and was especially dedicated to helping the homeless while in New York.

The devoted wife of the late Paul Stavropoulos with whom she shared 42 years of marriage, she was the beloved sister of the late David Bellofatto, Marie Boccuzzi and Frank P. Bellofatto; the cherished aunt of JoAnn M. Alexander of Revere, Phyllis Jones of Virginia Beach, VA, Carol Vatcher of Saugus, David Bellofatto of Massachusetts and Marcia Bellofatto of Washington State. She is also lovingly survived by several grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

Marchelle ‘Mickey’ Cunningham

New England Teamsters Pension Fund Retiree

Marchelle ‘Mickey’ (Palmisano) Cunningham of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on Sunday, February 22 with her loving family by her side after a valiant three year battle with cancer. She was 61 years old. Born and raised in East Boston’s Jeffries Point Section, she was educated in Boston Public Schools and was a graduate of East Boston High School, Class of 1971. She later went on to attend Northeastern University and on April 8, 1972 Mickey married Howard Cunningham. The couple resided in East Boston and began their family, raising three daughters. Mickey worked as a Secretarial Clerk for the New England Teamsters Pension Fund for 25 years. She was a dedicated wife and mother. There was nothing more important to her than her family. She was blessed with three grandchildren who she treasured. One of her happiest moments in her life was getting to enjoy the pleasure of having her entire family with her at Disney World. Although her illness made it difficult on her, it never penetrated her will to live or love, she demonstrated tremendous strength and determination to battle through each day. She was the beloved daughter of the late Jenny “Tootsie” (Sorrentino) Palmisano; the devoted wife of Howard L. Cunningham with whom she shared 42 years of marriage; the loving mother of Melissa Cunningham, Jennie J. “J.J.” Durbano – Cataldo and her husband, Alex and Melanie H. Cunningham; the adored grandmother of Domenick A. D’Urbano, Aaron M. Souza, Jr. and Denyella M. D’Urbano, all of Revere; the cherished sister of Donna E. Conroy and her husband, Patrick of Braintree and Robert B. Palmisano and his wife, Margaret of Revere. She is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, February 26 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, February 27 at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) Revere.
