Maryann ‘Molly’ Zolla

Will be remembered for her warm smile, Scottish brogue and witty sense of humor

Maryann “Molly” Zolla, a longtime resident of Revere,  died on Sunday, January 4 at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers after a long illness with her family by her side. She was 85 years old.

Molly was born and raised in Glasgow, Scotland and came to the United States by herself at the age of 18.

She lived in Lynn, went to work at Forbes Lithograph, married, settled in Revere and that was where Molly made her home and raised her three children.  She worked as a Credit Analyst for Bois & Gannon which later became Alliance Associates for many years.

Molly was very proud of her Scottish Heritage.  She was also very proud of Revere, she loved her city. She will be remembered for her warm smile, Scottish brogue and witty sense of humor.

She was the loving mother of Ronald W. Zolla and his wife, Lee of Portsmouth, NH, Toni Sicari and her husband, Sebastian of Boxford and Leslie L. Zolla of Stoneham;  the beloved sister of Patricia E. Cairns of Glasgow, Scotland and the late Margaret Carroll;  the cherished grandmother of Kristen Autio and her husband Eric, of Hingham, Michael Zolla and his wife, Jennifer of Summit, NJ, Brian Zolla and his wife, Amanda of Swampscott, Mark Zolla of Somerville Michael Sicari of New York City and Robert Sicari of Boxford.  She was the great grandmother of Benjamin, Nathan and Brandon  and is also lovingly survived by several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Tuesday, January 13 from 10 to11 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere A funeral service will follow in the Funeral Home.

Helen Sicotte

Of Florida, formerly of Revere

Helen B. (Bostrom) Sicotte, a former longtime resident of Revere, passed away December 29 in Leesburg, Florida.

The wife of 60 years of the late Ronaldo, she was the mother of Ronald and his wife, Marianne, Francis and his wife, Karen, Joan James and her partner, Donna Ross,  Jo-Anne Garlick and her husband, Fred, Roberta Sicotte and Robert and his wife, Elaine; grandmother of David, Mark, Jo-Anne, Jerry, Michael, Timothy, Stefanie, Adam, Lindsay and the late Andrew Sicotte and great-grandmother of seven.

 As per her wishes, there will be no service. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.

Doris Haberlin

Former Mass. Environmental Resources administrative assistant

Doris P. (Thuring) Haberlin of Revere, formerly of Medford. died on December 30 at the Prospect House in Revere. She was 90 years old.

The wife of the late James T. Haberlin, she was born in Cambridge and raised in Medford, the daughter of the late William and Agnes (Fitzgerald) Thuring. She was a graduate of Medford High School and moved to Revere in 1951. She was active in the PTA, Cub Scouts and volunteered at Malden Hospital. Mrs. Haberlin enjoyed playing bingo and worked as an administrative assistant for the Commonwealth of MA, Environmental Resources for 11 years.

Mrs. Haberlin leaves five children: Dianne Furey of Winthrop, Thomas Haberlin and his wife, Ichiko of Hawaii, William Haberlin of Easton, James Haberlin and his wife, Marie of Newburyport and Donald Haberlin and his wife, Barbara of Brookfield; two sisters, Emily Richards of Malden and Helen Aylward of Medford; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Bisbee-Porcella Funeral Home, Saugus. Interment was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.

Gertrude ‘Marksy’ Triber

Retired Registered Nurse

Gertrude (Marks) “Marksy” Triber of Revere, wife of the late Leo Triber, died Sunday, December 28 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. She was 94 years old.

Born in Falmouth, the daughter of the late Herman and Anna (Kaplan) Marks, she was raised and educated in Falmouth and was a graduate of Milford Hospital Nursing School. Gertrude had been employed by various Boston Hospitals as a Registered Nurse.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed. She is survived by her daughters, Jayne Triber of Revere and Karen Meola and her late husband, Kenneth of Beverly; her grandchildren, Kristin, Karly and Marisa Meola, her brother Richard Marks of Houston, TX and by many relatives and friends.

Dorothy Conte

Of Revere, formerly of East Boston

Dorothy N. (Ward) Conte of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on Wednesday, December 31 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home after a long illness.

Dorothy grew up in East Boston and attended Boston Schools. Like many people of her generation, she went to work to help support her family, portraying a selfless act to help better her siblings.

 On August 4, 1951 she married the love of her life.The couple later settled in Revere and began raising their family.

She was the devoted wife of the late Archangelo “Arkie” Conte with whom she shared 57 years of marriage; loving mother of Richard S. Conte and his wife, Jeanne E. of Revere and the late William J. Conte; cherished grandmother of Jennifer L. Conte of Revere; beloved sister of the late Ruth Balchuk and Harold Ward and is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Lloyd ‘George’ Whitcraft

Lloyd “George” Whitcraft of Revere passed away December 30.

He was the cherished son of the late Lloyd and Christine (Maguire) Whitcraft; dear brother of Larry Whitcraft and his wife, Marsha of Chelsea; uncle of Lynne Brimhall and her husband, Jim of Chelsea and Mark Whitcraft of Connecticut; loving cousin of Anne Quigg of Malden  and Janice Bryson of Pennsylvania. Patsy ‘Pat’ Tata

Community activist; former Revere City Councilor At Large and School Committee member; St. Anthony of Padua Church devotee

Patsy W. “Pat” Tata, retired Revere Firefighter with 37 years service, was stricken at home on January 2 and died after a long illness. He was 87 years old.

Pat was born and raised in Revere,  attended Revere Schools and was a graduate of Revere High School,  Class of 1945. He was known for his athleticism. He played varsity football and was named team captain.

After graduation, Pat joined the US Navy during World War II and served his country proudly. When he returned from the war, he attended Boston University for one year and then became a Revere Firefighter. Pat also was known for playing Semi–Pro Football  for the Kelley Club and St. Lazarus.

Pat married his sweetheart, Phyllis Siciliano and the couple remained in Revere to raise their eight children.

Pat found time in his busy schedule to get involved in politics. He was elected a Revere City Councilor At Large and later served as a Revere City School Committeeman. Pat was the founder of the Revere Pop Warner Football Program.  He also was the Head Coach of the Revere High School Freshman Football Team and later Assistant Head Coach of the Varsity Team. Pat was a Board Member of the Northeast Regional Vocational School, the Union President for the Fire Fighter’s Union for over 20 years, the Director of Consumer Affairs in Revere,  a Board Member for the McCarthy & Trifone Foundation and a past member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. In later years, Pat was the Mayor’s Assistant for the Thomas Ambrosino Administration.

Above all  his busy and fulfilled political endeavors, his most blessed and sacred work was as a member of St. Anthony’s Holy Name Society and as a Lector at his long time parish, St. Anthony of Padua Church. It was there where Pat held a special place in his heart with his deep rooted faith.

Although he had a very busy schedule, Pat’s favorite place in the world was “Home” with his loving family, that is where he enjoyed above all.

Pat was the loving and devoted husband of the late Phyllis A. (Siciliano) Tata with whom he shared 65 years of marriage.  He was the cherished father of John R. Tata, Debra J. Tata, Pat W. Tata, Jr., Mark A. Tata and his wife, Kelly, Lisa M. Tata – Amato, Gina M. Viarella and her husband, Christopher, Maria V. Stuart and her husband, Michael, all of Revere and the late Peter W. Tata;  the beloved brother of Dolores Nicholas and her husband, James of Corinth, TX and the late Malvina C. Cafarelli, Peter W. Tata, Chester W. Tata and Madeline Occhipinti.  He was the adored grandfather of 17 and great grandfather of five and is also lovingly survived by many many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, January 8 from 3 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, January 9 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere. Harold Skair

Member of the Branches Steel Band Orchestra  and former member of the Pan Vibes (Trinidad).

Harold Skair of Revere, formerly of Belmont, Trinidad died suddenly on December 27 at Beth Israel Hospital.  He was 66 years old.

Harold was a member of the Branches Steel Band Orchestra and a former member of the Pan Vibes (Trinidad).

Born in Belmont, Trinidad, he was the son of the late George and Thelma (Lewis); beloved husband of Stella (Affong); devoted father of Kevin and his wife, Fabiola of Florida; dear brother of Joan Skair, Eileen Gamaldo, George “Jackie” Skair, Noel “Mico”Skair and the late Albert Skair; loving grandfather of Aiden and Lucas Skair and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Angelina Gambardella

Of New Hampshire, formerly of Revere

Angelina I. (Gueli) Gambardella of Wolfeboro, NH, formerly of Revere and East Boston, died on December 31.

Retired telephone operator of New Hampshire, formerly of Revere; Also known as ‘The Dancing Queen’

Angelina Gambardella of Wolfeboro, NH, formerly formerly of Revere, went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, December 31. She was 82 years old.

She was born June 12, 1932 in Boston, the daughter of the late Rocco and Teresa Gueli and lived in East Boston and Revere for many years where she had worked as a telephone operator with AT&T before retiring to her home in Wolfeboro, NH 25 years ago.

Angie was a devoted parishioner at St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, in Alton, NH where she also served as a Eucharist Minister. Angie loved a good poker game and she was always a first one on the dance floor earning her the name “The Dancing Queen.” She also made the best meatballs and (gravy) not sauce.

Angelina was the beloved wife of the late Salve Gambardella; the loving mother of her children: Christine Albee and her husband, Stetson of Wolfeboro, NH, Teri Plant and her husband, Kerry of Homer, Alaska, Sandy Gambardella and his companion, Diane Tassinari of Revere and Carla Gambardella of Revere. She also leaves behind her grandchildren Allen Albee and Stephanie Albee-Berger, Jonathan and Travis Mazac, Mathew Plant, Addam Gambardella and a nephew John Gueli and his companion Judy Green and her nieces Mia Dickson and Joya’ Shaheen and their families.

Calling hours were January 4 at Lord Funeral Home, Wolfeboro, NH and A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated January 5 at St. Katharine Drexel Church, Alton, NH. Calling hours were also held January 5 at Buonfiglio Funeral Home, Revere with a Mass of Christian Burial on January 6 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Revere. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery following the Mass.

Catherine M. (Carrabino) Gaeta of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on January with her loving sister by her bedside.

She was the beloved wife of the late Edwin Gaeta; loving daughter of the late Angelo and Angelina (Puleo) Carrabino; dear sister of Maria LoConzolo and Joseph Carrabino and his wife, Teresa; cherished aunt of Carlene Vitale and family and Christine Olvey and family.
