Patriettes Are Champions Again

The 2014 Patriettes softball team defeated the Jets in the Championship game of the Revere Youth Baseball and Softball League to win its second Championship Title in three years.  Managed by Corrie O’Neil and led by Head Coach Paul Nowicki, along with Paul Shapleigh and Joe Pepe, this team had all the makings of a triumphant season.

The Patriettes went into the playoffs with a remarkable record, recording only 1 loss and it would be no surprise that the playoffs would showcase the teams’ talent.  Each team member gave it their all, displaying confidence and tenacity, and commanding the rubber match game.  More importantly, they were focused on what they have been practicing all season, which is playing as a team.  This was a positive experience for each Patriette, their loyal coaches, family, and even the cute Patriettes’ “Mascots” – Chloe, Cali and Ellie,  who came to cheer them on all season.  This years’ season has been a testament to the Patriettes’ hard work and dedication which hopefully they will all take away with them for many years’ to come.

District champions

Revere Youth Baseball and Softball sent their 9U, Cal-Ripken, All-Star baseball team to the District Tournament in Wareham this summer and came away as District Champions and represented Revere in the Eastern Massachusetts State Tournament in Winchester. Revere finished as runner-up in the State Tournament and qualified for the New England Regional Tournament in Hudson, where they finished second in New England. Coordinators said it’s been at least 30 years since one of the youth baseball teams has advanced this far in an all-star tournament. RHS FOOTBALL SEASON TO START

Revere High School (RHS) Quarterback Danny Murphy (Junior) rolls out in a bootleg pass play during practice on Monday. Coach Lou Cicatelli said his team, which was young and inexperienced last year, now has experience and he expects a good run this year – provided that the injury bug stays away. The team has practiced with focus and had a productive scrimmage last Saturday against Hamilton-Wenham, where standout running back Kaleb Silva (Senior) displayed his running prowess. Cicatelli said Silva will figure big in the offense, but that Murphy has improved and the team hopes to implement a serious passing attack to accompany the run. On defense, Cicatelli said Middle Linebacker Martin Keaucharian has been all over the field making tackles and running down ball carriers.

They scrimmaged St. Mary’s of Lynn on Tuesday, and will head to Marblehead for a scrimmage this Saturday morning. The team kicks off the season on Sept. 12 at Medford.
