All Students Report To School on Mon.

Revere Schools will kick off the new academic year this coming Monday, Aug. 25, which is a few days earlier than normal.

Superintendent Paul Dakin said that with the schools celebrating Holy Days for all three major religions (Christian, Jewish and Muslim), the schools decided to begin slightly earlier this year to get ahead of the curve before state MCAS testing began.

“Getting the days in before state testing begins is huge,” he said. “We figured we could grab a day or two earlier in the week. Missing five days of school puts our kids at a competitive disadvantage. Five days out is missing 5 percent of the material.”

There will be no school, however, on Friday, Aug. 29, nor on Labor Day, Sept. 1.
