Revere Thankful for Agencies That Assisted in Tornado Recovery

On Monday, July 28th, Revere’s central business district and neighborhoods both to the east and west were hit by an EF2 tornado. Fortunately, despite the devastation, there were no fatalities, and even more remarkably, no serious injuries.  We have been overwhelmed by the support and continued generosity from our neighboring cities and towns, our state and federal delegation, state agencies, city officials, Revere Police, Fire, Public Works, and Inspectional Services Departments, and the numerous crews that worked day in and day out from National Grid, Verizon, and Comcast.   Perhaps most impressive was the response and continued optimism of our residents.  The support and compassion they displayed for one another during the hours and days after the tornado hit was incredible to see and once again reaffirms my belief that Revere indeed, is a very special place.

We would like to thank the following organizations for their assistance in the moments and days after the tornado:

Today, our clean-up efforts continue, and we will not be satisfied until our city and our neighborhoods are back, better and stronger than we were prior to Monday’s storm.

Finally, many residents and business owners have been impacted and in some cases, devastated by this unforeseen tragedy.  Many of the costs associated with the storm will not be covered by insurance. That is why we’ve created the “Revere Tornado Relief Fund” (www.reveretornadorelief.org).  This will be spearheaded by former Middlesex County District Attorney Gerry Leone, and will help victims get their lives back to normal.  Thus far, the fund has generated nearly $100,000 in donations.  If you would like to donate, please accept our thanks and gratitude for your support and continued generosity.
