Edward W. Insogna of Revere passed away on Monday, May 19.
The cherished son of the late Rose (Elibero) and Matthew Insogna he was the beloved husband of Vonette Annese-Insogna; loving father of Lillian Rossi, Lisa Insogna, Edward Insogna Jr. and his wife, Ann and Anthony Insogna; dear brother of Patricia and Lynda Insogna and Matthew Insogna and his wife, Marilyn; loving grandfather of 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren and is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Family and friends will honor Edward’s life by gathering in Vazza’s “Beechwood†Funeral Home, 262 Beach St., Revere on Thursday, May 22 from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. Friday morning before leaving in procession to Immaculate Conception Church, Revere for a Funeral Mass to be celebrated in his honor at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Robert A. DeStasio, Jr.
Of Florida, formerly of Revere
Robert A. Destasio, Jr. of Florida, formerly of Revere, lost his battle with ALS on May 16 surrounded by family. He was 55 years old.
Bobby was born in Everett on June 17, 1958. He was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School in 1976 and attended AIC in Springfield, Massachusetts where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology.
When he tired of New England winters, he decided to move to South Florida in 1995 and resided in Hollywood with his sister, Linda. Bobby was an avid New England Patriots fan and couldn’t wait until football season came around. He also loved to hike, camp and work out with his best friend, Steven. His dream of traveling to the Philippines was one that he was able to accomplish twice. He competed in many Body Building competitions when younger and you would usually find him at the gym! His love for his previous and current Pit Bull Dogs (Marco 1 and Marco 2) gave him the most joy out of life especially this last year.
Bobby is survived by his parents Robert, Sr and Fern; his sister Linda and, of course, Marco 2.

Patricia Johnson
Retired Assistant Manager, Shawmut Bank of Revere
Patricia A. (Morley) Johnson, a 35-year resident of Revere, formerly of Chelsea, died following a long battle with pulmonary disease on May 15 at Salem Hospital. She was 78 years old.
Born and raised in Chelsea, she was a graduate of St. Rose Grammar School of Chelsea and Chelsea High School, Class of 1954. “Pat†went to work for the Shawmut Bank of Revere in 1960 and rose to the rank of Assistant Bank Manager shortly thereafter, retiring in 1996.
The family moved to Revere in 1979 and “Pat†was an active member of the Revere Chamber of Commerce, the Revere Emblem Club & DrillTeam and the Revere Lodge of Elks #1171.
Her late husband, Roland C. Johnson. died in December of 1990. She was the devoted mother of Patricia A. Pace and the cherished grandmother to Crystal A. Pace and Kattie-Lynne Pace and the beloved great grandmother of James Thomas, all of Revere. She is also lovingly survived by her dedicated companion of 18 years, Laurence Gordon of Florida (formerly of Revere) and the dear aunt to: Denise A. Morley-Norton and her husband, Thomas of Plymouth and James A. Morley of Louisville, KY. She was the sister of the late James L. Morley and the daughter of the late Lawrence J. and Sally (Shute) Morley.
Her Funeral will be held from the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere today, Wednesday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach Street and Winthrop Avenue) Revere at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Albert Palladino
Former Co-Proprietor of City Hall Pharmacy; 14 Year Health Teacher and Attendance Officer at RHS
Albert O. Palladino died on Saturday, May 17 at Salem Hospital following a long illness. He was 73 years old.
Born in Lynn, he was a lifelong resident of Revere and a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1958, Boston University, Class of 1961 and an alumnus of Mass. College of Pharmacy, Class of 1975. He received his Masters Degree in Education in 1995.
“Al†worked in the family-owned and run business, City Hall Pharmacy of Revere since he was a teenager. Later, he, together with his dad and brother, Peter, operated the drug store until its closing in 1993.
In September of 1993, Al began a second career with the Revere School System as Health Officer and Attendance Officer which continued until poor health forced him to retire in 2007.
City Hall Pharmacy was opened in the late 1930’s by Al’s father, George V. Palladino, Sr., who died in 1973. Although the pharmacy closed in 1993, the Palladino family (Peter) ran a breakfast-luncheonette until 2012. The Pharmacy and later the luncheonette was a Broadway hallmark and a mecca for many of Revere’s “Intelligentia†and politicians to have many a spirited debate. “City Hall Pharmacy†was always community active and generous to the many organizations and charities that sought their help.
As a young man, Al developed a keen interest in aeronautics. He was proud to have built his own plane and obtained his license as a commercial pilot. His enthusiasm obviously influenced his son, Albert, to his career choice as a commerical pilot.
Albert was the husband of the late Elaine C. (Faulstick) Palladino who died on March 25, 1992; the devoted father of Albert P. Palladino, a licensed commercial pilot out of Anchorage, Alaska and Alicia M. Palladino, RN, a specialist in Oncology Nursing of Nashville, TN. He was the cherished brother of: Peter A. Palladino and his wife, Judith L. of Revere and is also lovingly survived by his longtime â€SWEETIE†Linda M. Pennacchio of Revere and the Pennacchio Family of Melrose and Reading. He also leaves many friends and colleagues. He was the brother of the late George V. Palladino, Jr., Charles A. and Marilyn A. Palladino, RN and the son of the late George V. Palladino, Sr. and Albertina A. (Lanthier) Palladino.

Father Edward OCSO (Edward Joseph Steriti)
Tranppist Monk
Father Edward OCSO, a Trappist monk of St. Joseph’s Abbey, 167 North Spencer Road, Spencer, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 29 in the abbey’s infirmary surrounded by his family and his monastic brothers.
Born in 1930 in Revere, Edward Joseph Steriti attended Revere High School and Boston University, where he was enrolled in a program of pre-law studies. After some time as a store clerk, Father Edward entered the Franciscan Order of Friars Minor at Immaculate Conception Monastery in Troy, New York, but stayed only a short time, subsequently entering the Trappist community at St. Joseph’s Abbey in Spencer in 1951, where he took the name Brother Bonaventure.
Eventually reverting to his baptismal name, Father Edward pronounced his solemn vows at the abbey in 1956 and was ordained a priest there in 1957. He was soon sent to help establish two of the abbey’s foundations: In 1959 to Our Lady of the Angels Monastery at Azul, Argentina, and in 1962 to St. Benedict’s Abbey in Snowmass, Colorado. He returned definitively to St. Joseph’s Abbey in 1964 whereupon he continued to serve the community faithfully throughout his monastic life, helping at Trappist Preserves and in the community kitchen.
He was a dearly loved confessor, retreat master and spiritual director to the brothers and to numerous others who came to him for counsel and consolation. For many years he lived in a small cabin deep inside the abbey woodlands offering his life in prayerful solitude as a devout hermit. In a clearing there, he tended a thriving vegetable garden for the monastery kitchen and for his dear friends, the poor, who were fed at The Mustard Seed, a food pantry run by the Catholic Worker in Worcester.
In the evenings, he fastened rosaries for the abbey’s porter’s lodge. In the hearts of the monastic community “Father Eddie” remains a deeply respected brother monk. With gratitude for the gift of his presence among us, the monks of St. Joseph’s Abbey commend his soul to your prayers.
He is survived by his devoted sisters and brother, Eleanor Misci of Peabody, Nora Moccia of Lynnfield, Vincent (Jim) Steriti of Nahant, Rose Marie Maloney and her husband, William of Harwich, his many nieces and nephews, and his brothers at the monastery. He was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Theresa (DiGianni) Steriti and his brother, Angelo Steriti.
There were no calling hours. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Abbey on Tuesday, May 6 and burial was in the abbey cemetery. Arrangements were by J. Henri Morin & Son Funeral Home, Spencer, MA 508-885-3992.

Allen R. Gaynor of Peabody, formerly of Revere, died on December 28, 2013.
Allen, who worked as a systems engineer for Cisco, attended Colby College and Wentworth Institute.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary (LeFave) Gaynor; cherished son of Lana (Russell) Gaynor of Peabody and the late A. Robert “Bob†Gaynor; dear brother of John Gaynor of Lynn, Stephen Gaynor and his wife, Beth of Texas and Leah Leavitt and her husband, Thomas of Maine. He was the loving uncle of Liana, Zachary, Russell and Jackie.

Lillian C. (Marrama) Ristaino of Winthrop, formerly of East Boston and Revere, died on May 13 at Winthrop Place. She was 92 years old.
A homemaker, she was born in East Boston and lived on Summer Street in East Boston for many years.

Ella M. (Andreottola) Sgobbo, a lifelong resident of Revere, died at the Whidden Memorial Hospital on April 29 after a long illness. She was 96 years old.
Born and raised in Revere, she was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1937. She had a 16 year career with the US Postal Service at Ft. Point Channel (So. Postal Annex) Boston as a mail clerk, retiring in 1983 and was a member of the American Postal Workers’ Union.
She was the wife of the late Ralph Sgobbo who died in March of 1968; the mother of Ellen M. Sgobbo of Revere and the late Frederick A. Sgobbo, cherished grandmother of Debra Sgobbo of Kentucky, Glen C. Sgobbo and his wife, Wendy, Jeffrey M. Sgobbo and his wife, Andrea, all of Columbus, Ohio and Nicholas F. Sgobbo and his wife, Cristina and Jena Sgobbo, all of Dublin, Ohio; the dear sister of: Josephine Cocuzzo of Newton and the late Angelina Burns and Edith Ardolino. She is also lovingly survived by four great grandchildren: Nadiya, Amanda, Anthony and Oliver and by several nieces and nephews.

Richard Austin
Retired Probate & Tax Accountant
Richard L. W. Austin, a lifelong resident of Revere, died on May 8 following a 14 year illness at the Chelsea Soldiers Home. He was 70 years old.
Born in the Bronx, NY, he was a life long resident of Revere and a graduate of Bentley College, Class of 1973. He workedfor 14 years for Burns & Levinson Accounting Firm of Boston as a probate and tax accountant. He servedwith the US Army during the Vietnam Era from September of 1964 until September of 1967. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Reveries, a popular Drum & Bugle Corps, for several years and was also a Eucharistic Minister for St. Agnes Parish of Arlington.
Richard was an avid gardener and especially proud of the variety of roses he grew and nurtured. He anticipated his annual vacations (over 30) with his wife, Susanna, especially at Bar Harbor, Maine andat the Arcadia National Park. He was overwhelmed by the beauty and the natural resources of the park.
An early dementia diagnosis 14 years ago resulted in his permanent residency at the Soldiers Home where he has lived since March of 2008 and where he received extraordinary care and optimum medical attention for which his wife, Susanna, will be forevere grateful.
He is survived by his devoted and dedicated wife of 42 years, Susanna M. (Gill) Austin. He was the dear cousin to: Donna Parsons, Diane Mulligan and Susan Gliner, all of California and the cherished son of the late Stanley E. and Theresa M. (Parsons) Austin.
His funeral was conducted on May 14 (his 71st birthday) from the Cardinal Cushing Pavilion, located on the campus of the Chelsea Soldiers Home, Chelsea followed by a funeral mass in the Chapel of St. Michael the Archangel.Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Lifelong Revere Resident
Vincent A. Candelora, a lifelong resident of Revere, passed unexpectedly on Thursday, May 8 at the Massachusetts General Hospital after being stricken at his home. He was 35 years old.
Born in Melrose, he was a graduate of Malden Catholic High School, Class of 1996 and University of Mass., Lowell, Class of 2001. His early working career was with Fidelity Corp. for about four years before moving on to home construction, remodeling and design.
He was the cherished son of Rose M. (Tripoli) and Silvino S. Candelora and the devoted brother of Christopher R. Candelora, all of Revere; beloved nephew to: Bartholomew “Bart†and Rosalyn A. Tripoli of Revere, Anthony and Rose Candelora of Londonderry, NH and the late Florence Martoranno. He is also lovingly survived by several cousins, many friends and colleagues.

He is survived by his brothers Fredrick Mandracchia of Randolph and Salvatore Mandracchia    United States Army currently stationed in Germany, and sister Samantha Edmonds of Georgia. Also survived by his children Anthony, Hayley and Ethan Tedesco all of Revere.
