Revere’s RoseLee Vincent cruised to victory Tuesday night, besting Republican Todd Taylor of Chelsea by 880 votes and winning overall 1,466 to 586 (not including results from two Saugus precincts).
Chelsea’s Taylor pulled out a win in his hometown, but couldn’t best Vincent – who won via a larger Revere vote on what was an overall low-turnout day.
Only 4.68 percent of Chelsea voters came to the polls, and 11.77 percent of Revere voters came out. Taylor managed to win over 129 votes in Prattville versus Vincent’s 112. However, in Revere, Vincent nailed down the win with 1,354 votes to Taylor’s 457 – buoyed by the always-reliable Ward 6 vote.

I’m forever grateful for the support of my family, my incredibly dedicated group of volunteers and to the voters of Revere, Saugus and Chelsea in achieving this victory. I am going to hit the ground running and give my heart and soul to be a strong voice for the communities and people of the 16th Suffolk District.â€
Vincent will have to run again in September and November for the same seat. While no one has announced yet on, Vincent is expected to have an opponent from Revere in September.
City Councillor Stephen Reardon has tossed around the idea in the past publicly, but has not made any firm commitments yet. Candidates have until the end of the month to get their name on the September ballot.
It was uncertain at press time if Taylor would run again as a Republican in the November General Election.
