On the MGCDecision

The compromise decision by the Massachusetts Gaming Commission (MGC) to allow the proposal by Mohegan Sun to operate a casino at the site of Suffolk Downs in Revere to go forward certainly comes as  good news to all the thousands of Revere residents that have supported this project.

In the next few weeks leading up to the second election, we expect to hear from both the local proponents and opponents of this proposal as the stakes for the City of Revere are very high.

Mayor Dan Rizzo issued the following statement after the MGC hearing on Tuesday:

“Today the Massachusetts Gaming Commission asked the City of Revere to move forward with another vote on a resort style casino in our community. The partnership between the City of Revere, Mohegan Sun, and Suffolk Downs represents an opportunity to develop a world-class destination resort that will make the City of Revere proud as a host community, that will benefit the entire region with new jobs and economic development, and that will become the signature project for Massachusetts in the resort gaming industry. My administration will be making every effort over the coming weeks to discuss the new proposal with the public in a transparent and open nature.”

We encourage all local voters to seek out their elected officials and get their input.

We encourage local voters to hear all sides and then decide for themselves. Remember this should and will be a Revere decision.
