Joanne McGovern

Of Revere

Joanne (Lutrek) McGovern of Revere, formerly of California, died on December 7.

Born in Buffalo NY, the daughter of the late William and Lucille Lutrek, Mrs. McGovern lived in California before moving to Revere in 1972. She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph, the devoted mother of Christine Roland of Revere and Joseph and his wife, Rachael of Salem NH; dear sister of the late Laurie Nowak and is also survived by four loving grandchildren: Frederick, Carl, Tiffany and Cody.

Visiting hours will held be in the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St. Revere today, Wednesday, December 11, from 4 to 7 p.m. followed by a Prayer Service at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Paul Staudinger

Of Revere

Paul Staudinger of Revere died on December 6.

He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Gillespie) of Revere; devoted father of Paul Staudinger and his wife, Missy of Dracut; dear brother of Joan and Mary Staudinger and also leaves six brothers-in-law. He was the cherished grandfather of Jaelyn and Bree Staudinger of Dracut and is also survived by five nieces and nephews.

Avid Supporter of Everett Youth Hockey and Little League

Mary Ann (Rizzo) Hery of Everett died on December 6.

Mary Ann was a proud and avid supporter of Everett Youth Hockey and Everett Little League for many years who enjoyed spending her summers at the family lake house – HHH on Ossipee Lake.

The beloved wife of Louis R. Hery, she was the loving mother of Louis R. Hery, Jr. and his wife, Julie of Morristown, NJ and Keith Hery and his wife, Jean of North Andover; beloved daughter of the late Antonio and Constance Rizzo; loving sister of Antonio Rizzo and his wife, Madaline; loving Grammy of Louis III, William and Regan, who she loved being surrounded by and was also the loving auntie to many loving nieces and nephews.

Rose Russo

Retired Stitcher

Rose C. (Marcoccio) Russo of Revere died on December 6. She was 88 years old.

Rose worked as a stitcher for well-known Boston factories throughout her life and enjoyed reading, knitting and crocheting.

She was born in Boston, the beloved wife of the late Phillip Russo and was the devoted mother of Domenic Russo and his wife, Danielle and Philip Russo and his wife, Karen; dear sister of Lucille Guaetta and her husband, Dom and Marie Marcoccio and was predeceased by eight sisters. She was the cherished grandmother of Michelle Simoes and her husband, Scott and great-grandmother of Chloe and Ave Simoes and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Rita Norftill

One of God’s Very Special Angels

Graveside services were held on December 6 at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden for Rita I. Norftill, a lifelong Chelsea resident, who died unexpectedly at Boston Medical Center on December 2. She was 55 years old.

Born and raised in Chelsea, she was educated in special needs programs and was one of God’s very special angels

Her parents, Raymond E. Norftill and the late Rita T. (Thibault) Norftill cared for her continually in their home. Her mom, Rita, passed in May of 1998 and for the past few years she has made her home at Marquardt Nursing Center of Waltham where she thrived and was most content.

In addition to her dear father, Raymond E. Norftill, Sr. of Chelsea, she was the devoted sister of Raymond R. Norftill, Jr. and his wife, Lou Ann of Pepperell. She was the cherished aunt of Amanda L. Norftill-Towne and her husband, Andrew of Milford, NH and Jonathan R. Norftill of Boston and is also lovingly survived by her two grand nieces Alexia R. and Rayla A. Towne and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

Marianne P. (Goodwin) Rufo of Woburn died on Wednesday, December 4.

She was the beloved wife of Gerard Rufo; devoted mother of Gerard Rufo and Douglas J. Rufo, both of Woburn, and the late John D. Rufo; dear sister of Donald E. Goodwin and his wife, Alice R., Marcella E. Pauley and her late husband, Daniel J., and Katherine A. Myette and her late husband, Charles L., Sr., all of Revere, and the late Cpt. Henry “Dougie” Goodwin, and sister-in-law of John A. Rufo and his wife, Rosemary of Malden; cherished grandmother of Elizabeth Marie, Jerrilyn Marianne and John J. Rufo and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Of Marblehead, formerly of Revere

Joseph Grobman of Marblehead, formerly of Revere, died on November 5.

He was the beloved husband of the late Lillian S. (Bazer) Grobman; devoted father of Susan Porter and her husband, Thomas of Marblehead and Andrew Grobman and his wife, Diana of Brookline; dear grandfather of Kimberly Ferrandi of Salem; proud great grandfather of Benjamin Ferrandi and loving brother of the late Frances Jacob and Blanche Grobman.

Arthur Smaldone

Retired Property Manager and Carpenter

Arthur H. Smaldone Sr. of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on December 8 at the Whidden Memorial Hospital of Everett following a long illness. He was 84 years old.

Born and raised in East Boston and a 1946 graduate of East Boston High School, he entered the US Army in March of 1951 during the Korean Conflict and served until March of 1957. In 1968, he and his family moved to Revere where he remained until his death. Most of his working career was in property management as a carpenter and he also worked privately as a carpenter until his retirement.

He leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Rosemarie J. (Coroniti) and he was the devoted father of Arthur H. Smaldone, Jr. and his wife, Carol Ann and Barbara A. Mauro and her husband, John T., all of Revere and Denise P. Dotolo and her husband, Steven A. of West Peabody; the cherished grandfather of: Lauren R. Smaldone and her partner, Courtney Perry, Carla A. Dipesa and her husband, Christopher and Victoria R. and John A. Mauro, all of Revere and Nikolas S. and Gabrielle E. Dotolo, both of West Peabody. He was the dear brother of: Lorraine Denaro and her late husband, Frank of Rowley, Mary Carlough and her husband, Herbert of Brewster and Loretta Bruno and her husband, Anthony of Malden and is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours today, Wednesday, December 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. In the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, December 12 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach Street and Winthrop Avenue) at 10:30 a.m.
