An Alabama man who had escaped prison in September while serving a 50-year sentence was taken in after a standoff at a home on Noble Street Tuesday.

The man had been in Revere for approximately one week after having been on the run through several states. He was staying at the home of his girlfriend.

Members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Boston, the Revere Police Department, and the Massachusetts State Police VFAS Unit located and arrested Jerry Randolph Anthony, 28, on Noble Street Tuesday. Anthony is alleged to have escaped from a Community Work Center located in Camden, AL on Sept. 5. Anthony was serving a 50-year sentence for an assault conviction where he had shot and wounded two individuals. He had served approximately eight years of his sentence at the time of the escape.

During the arrest, Anthony hid in the bathroom and violently resisted arrest and was tasered during the incident. He was processed by the Revere Police Department as a fugitive from justice for removal to Alabama.
