Phyllis Antonelli

60 Year Revere Resident, formerly of Chelsea

Phyllis M. (Reid) Antonelli of Revere, formerly of Chelsea, died at her Revere home following a long illness on May 22. She was 84 years old.

Born and raised in Chelsea, she attended Chelsea Schools and came to Revere in 1953. Her beloved husband, Rocco J. Antonelli died in September of 2009.

She was the cherished mother of: Rosemarie Antonelli and her longtime companion, Retired Revere Firefighter Anthony J. “Tony” Cappoccia of Revere and the late Anthony J. Antonelli; dear mother in law to: Kathleen (Horgan) Antonelli of Everett; cherished grandmother of Revere Patrolman

Douglas Zingali and his wife, Vivianna of Salem, Toni Antonelli-Alterio and her husband, Paul Alterio of Malden, Whitney and Alanna Antonelli, both of Everett; dear sister of Harold Reid and his wife, Diane of Saugus, John Reid and his wife, Joan of Waltham, Joseph Reid and his late wife, Mary of Chelsea and the late Lillian G. Tirro and Robert Reid. She is also lovingly survived by her four great grandchildren: Douglas Zingalli Jr., Daniel R. Zingalli, Anthony Alterio and Ava Cozzolino; her brother in law, Angelo “Bob” Tirro of Peabody and by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, Inc. of Revere. Interment was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, Peabody. Anna ‘Anna Banana’ Sasser

Homemaker aof Revere, formerly of Everett

Anna M. “Anna Banana” (Santilli) Sasser of Revere, formerly of Everett, died on Thursday, May 23 at Hammersmith House in Saugus following a long illness. She was 79 years old.

Born and raised in Everett, she attended Everett schools and graduated from Everett High School, Class of 1952. In 1954 she married Edwin L. “Roy” Sasser and the couple moved to Revere. “Roy” died in June of 1999.

“Anna Banana” as she was affectionately known to her family, was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. She was the devoted mother to: Derek V. Sasser and his wife, Nina of Revere, Donna L. D’Addario and her husband, Albert of Saugus, Linda A. Sabina and her husband, John of Danvers, Sandra M. Sasser of Revere and Lisa J. Fitzpatrick and her husband, Steven of Glenburn, Maine. She was the dear sister to: Arthur Santilli and his wife, Katherine “Kitty” of Havertown, PA and the late Pasquale and Robert Santilli. She is also lovingly survived by eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Her funeral will be conducted from the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway, (Route 107) Revere today, Wednesday, May 29 at 10 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Peabody. Catherine “Peggy” Finn

20-Year Boston Police District 1 Administrative Assistant

Catherine C. “Peggy” (Flaherty) Finn of East Boston died unexpectedly at Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on May 26. She was 88 years old.

Born in Revere, she lived in the Orient Heights Section of East Boston since the age of six and remained there until her death. She attended Catholic Schools and was a 1942 graduate of Fitton Catholic High, East Boston. She entered the US Navy in November of 1944 and served until May of 1946 as a WAVE.

Early in her working career, “Peggy” worked for N.E. Tel & Tel. In 1967, she began her career with the Boston Police District 1 and retired in 1987 as an administratie assistant.

“Peggy” was the quintessence of personality. She could work with anyone, join any organization and always win the hearts of all. Her passions were her loving family and her Catholic Faith. She was devout but never pretentious.

Born into a strong and loving Irish family, her faith and her remarkable sense of humor carried her through life’s disappointments, tragedies and the deaths of her husband, her dear son and her siblings. Her patronage to St. Jude is legendary.

For many years, she and her dear sister, Mary F. “Molly” Boudette, continued their devotion to St. Jude attending the Monday morning service at Immaculate Conception Church, Revere. There and everywhere, she is remembered with strength and dignity.

The wife of the late Edwin M. Finn, who died in February of 1994, she was the cherished mother of Brian C. Finn and his wife, Judith and Boston Police Department Detective Sgt. Kevin P. Finn and his wife, Renee, all of Winthrop. She was also the mother of the late James. M. Finn, who died in September of 2007; adored grandmother to: Kevin P. Finn, Jr. of East Boston, Meaghan L. Janelle C. and Chirstopher B. Finn, all of Winthrop and Caitlin M. Finn of Revere; dear sister of Mary F. “Molly” Boudette and her late husband, Robert C. of Revere and the late Sabina C. Lewis, Lorraine T. Alioto, Helen F. Burns, Adele M. Duffy, Lawrence M. Flaherty and Ernest F. Alioto. She is also lovingly survived by her daughter in law, Julia M. Finn of Revere, five nephews and one niece.

Visiting hours will be held today, Wednesday, May 29 in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere from 4 to 8 p.m. Her Funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, May 30 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph/St. Lazarus Church, Orient Heights, East Boston at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Elena Mattera

Wife of Former Assistant Revere School Superintendent

Elena R. (Misci) Matera of Revere died on May 25 at Sun Rise of Lynnfield. She was 89 years old.

Born in East Boston, the daughter of the late Amedeo and Annina (Ciamma) Misci, she was raised and educated in Revere and worked as secretary for a few years before becoming a mother of five children.

She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Aurelius Mattera, former Assistant Superintendent of Revere Schools; devoted mother of Joanne Mattera of Salem, Paul and his wife, Judy of Swampscott, Mark of Revere and his former wife, Kelly Bronsdon-Mattera, Anthony and his wife, Denise of Revere and Christopher and his wife, Carol of Lynnfield; dear sister of the late Antonetta Misci, Lena Misci, Thomas, Julio, Mario and Aldo Misci and is also survived by nine loving grandchildren.

Her Funeral service was held in the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere on Tuesday, May 28 at 10 a.m. Visiting hours were held on Monday. Cologera ‘Lillian’ Iudica

Long Time Former Employee of Stop & Shop of Revere

Cologera “Lillian” Iudica of Revere, formerly of East Boston, died on May 22 at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center. She was 80 years old.

A longtime former employee of Stop & Shop, Revere, she was born in Boston, the beloved daughter of the late Carmelo and Teresa (Aleo) Iudica. She attended East Boston Schools and was the dear sister of Robert Iudica and his wife, Phyllis of Saugus and the late Josephine Cellucci and her late husband, Gerard, the late Anthony Iudica and his surviving wife, Helen and the late Dorothy D’Ettore and her late husband, Vincent. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral will be held from the Paul Buonfiglio & Sons-Bruno Funeral Home, 128 Revere St., Revere today, Wednesday, May 29 at 9 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St Anthony’s Church at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Carl Francesconi

Carpenter

Carl L. Francesconi of Revere died in Port Charlotte, Florida on May 14.

A carpenter, he was the beloved husband of Ann (Montalbano) Francesconi with whom he shared 60 years of marriage; loving father of Judy Costigan and her husband, John and Joan Ambrosino and her husband, Paul, all of Peabody and Dennis Francesconi of Revere; dear brother of Dorothy King of Tewksbury and Alexander and Ralph Francesconi, both of Wakefield and the late Henry Francesconi. He was the cherished grandfather of Ryan, Kevin and John Costigan, Jr., Christopher, Kristen and Kerri Franesconi and Brianna and Brittany Ambrosino.

His Funeral was held from Vazza’s “Beechwood” Funeral Home, 262 Beach St., Revere followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery. For guest book: www.vazzafunerals.com
