Peter Simonelli

AVCO Retiree, Formerly Served on Everett Common Council and Board of Alderman

Peter V. Simonelli of Everett died on April 17

at Genesis of Wakefield Nursing Center. He was 82 years old.

Born in Boston, he was retired from AVCO Research as a Junior Engineer and also received his teacher’s certificate.

Peter was a former member of Everett City government serving in the Common Council and later the Board of Alderman for many years. A charter member of the E Club of Everett, member of the Knights of Columbus, Everett and served as president of the former Immaculate Conception Church, Holy Name Society.

The beloved husband of Frances (Harrington) for over 61 years, he was the dear and devoted father of Peter V. Simonelli, Jr. and Stephen Simonelli of Everett, Ann Hogan and her husband, James of Malden and Patricia Bryant and her late husband, Joseph of Revere; brother of the late Louis Simonelli and his surviving wife, Dorothy Simonelli of Everett; loving grandfather of Jennifer Davidson, April Faris, Stephen Simonelli, Jr., Heather Bryant, Elizabeth Bryant, Victoria Simonelli and Shane Simonelli and also leaves three loving great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were by the Cafasso & Sons Funeral Home, Everett. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Everett.

Florence Bilardi

Data Entry Supervisor

Florence M. (Candelora) Bilardi of Revere died on April 16.

A data entry supervisor, she was the beloved wife of Joseph Martorana; devoted mother of Gina Serino and her husband, Richard of Revere and Joseph Bilardi and his fiancé, Kelley Crowley of Salem, NH; loving grandmother of Richard “Ricky” Serino; dear sister of Anthony Candelora of New Hampshire and Salvatore Candelora of Revere and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. Gilbert McInnis

Retired Chelsea Firefighter

Gilbert J. McInnis, of 156 Beech Ridge Rd., York, Maine died at his home on April 13.

He was born June 18, 1938 in Chelsea, a son of the late Alvin F. and Helen (Coughlin) McInnis.  He graduated from Chelsea High School and served in the U. S. Army as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne. He worked as a Firefighter for the City of Chelsea for 32 years and was a member of St. Christopher Church, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion.

He leaves his wife of  21 years, Janet R. (Morse) (Sullivan) McInnis; two sons, Michael McInnis and his companion, Lauren of Brighton, MA and Mark McInnis and his companion, Cindy of Salem, NH; two daughters, Michelle Layton and her husband, Robert of Naples, Florida and Maryanne Donovan and her husband, Tom of Quincy; four step-children: Rose Sullivan of York, ME, David Sullivan and his wife, Rita of Revere,  Steven Sullivan and his wife, Jeannine of Wilmington and Amanda Sullivan of Quincy; two brothers, Al McInnis and his wife, Rose of Lebanon, ME and Leo McInnis and his wife, Jerrie of the Villages, FL; a sister, Pat Reeves and her husband, Billy of Lake Alfred, FL; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild; 10 step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  A step-son, Leonard Sullivan predeceased him.

Alfonse Trulli

Of Revere, formerly of the North End

Alfonse J. Trulli of Revere, formerly of Boston’s North End, died on April 16 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital.

A licensed realtor and a longtime real estate developer who loved to travel, he was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Born in Boston, son of the late Alfonse and Rosa (Rica), he was the beloved husband of 41 years to Frances (Lubell); devoted father of Ellen Santamaria and her late husband, Robert of Peabody and the late Lance Trulli and his surviving wife, Lisa of Boston; cherished grandfather of JoyAnn Fisher of Pennsylvania, Erika Olivas of Boston and Carla Trulli of Salem; dear brother of Catherine Nadolny of Maine, Elena Doucet of Canada, Emma Rizzo of Medford and the late Concetta Peri and loving uncle of Jean and John Marr of Maine. He is also survived by his dog, Precious.

Joseph Henry

Substance Abuse Counselor

Graveside services will be held in Media, Pennsylvania for 20-year East Boston resident Joseph A. Henry sometime in the near future. He was 70 years old.

Mr. Henry died on April 20 following a valiant battle with Lymphoma at Mt. Auburn Hospital in Cambridge.

Born and raised in Media, Pennsylvania, he came to live in East Boston 20 years ago and for more than 10 years worked within the drug rehabilitation program, both privately and municipally as a substance abuse counselor. For a long time he was on the staff at “The Victory Program” of Dorchester.

He is lovingly survived by his devoted companion of 19 years, Christine A. Murphy with whom he made his home. He was the beloved father of Saundra L. Murphy of Revere, Derrell Bishop and her husband, Edward Joseph Henry, all of Mantua, New Jersey and George Henry of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by his former wife, Virginia (Carter) Henry of Claymont, Delaware, several grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Harvey and George Henry.

Susan Alexander-Ricciardi

Registered Nurse

Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service at 1 p.m. Friday, April 26 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, for Susan L. Alexander-Ricciardi who died unexpectedly at her Revere home on April 18. She was 64 years old.

A 1966 graduate of Revere High School, she was a 1970 graduate of the Malden School of Nursing. After receiving her RN, she worked at Malden Hospital for more than 10 years until its closing.

She was the beloved daughter of Arthur T. and Ruth B. (Barber) Alexander of Revere; the dear sister of Arthur T. Alexander, Jr. of Newburyport and Tracey Keefe and her husband, Edmund of Bakersfield, California. She is also lovingly survived by two nieces and three nephews.

Thomas Hartman

Champion Bowler and Oak Island Bombers Star Pitcher

Thomas J. ‘Tommy’ Hartman of Revere died on April 15.

A championship candlepin bowler and a member of the North East Professional Bowling League, his passion for candlepin bowling began at a young age after being introduced to the game by his father. He participated in numerous leagues throughout the years, eventually winning the prestigious “Yellow Pages Bowling Championship” in 1979. In addition to bowling, he loved the game of baseball and was a star pitcher for the “Oak Island Bombers”.

He was the beloved son of the late Charles and Florence (Magnell) Hartman; dear brother of Marie Carvalho and her husband, John of Sandown, NH and the late Charles “Chuckie” Hartman; loving uncle of Michael, Kevin and Adriana Carvalho and is also survived by many loving family members.

Mary Marino

Federal Reserve Bank Retiree and Don Orione Nursing Center Volunteer

Mary V. Marino of East Boston died on April 20 following a valiant struggle with breast cancer. She was 92 years old.

Born and raised in East Boston, she was a 1938 graduate of East Boston High School and began working for the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston in 1944, retiring in 1988.

A devotee of her Catholic faith, she attended Mass daily for almost all of her life until the last two years when she was unable to do so because of failing health. She would often attend Mass at the Don Orione Nursing Center and then remain there to volunteer and help with the needs of the residents.

She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Louise (Lovett) Martino; the devoted sister of John F. Marino and his wife, Alida G. (Campatelli) Marino of Wakefield and the late James Marino; aunt of the late John A Marino and the cherished grand aunt of Nicholas J Marino of Newton. She is also lovingly survived by her cousin, Joseph Krebs of Peabody.

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours today, April 24, beginning at 9 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway, Revere followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in St Joseph/St. Lazarus Church, Orient Heights, East Boston. Alice DeSimone

Devoted Homemaker

Alice T. (Ford) DeSimone of Revere died at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center in Revere on Thursday morning. She was 84 years old.

The beloved wife of James J. “Gigi” DeSimone with whom she shared 62 years of marriage, she was born and raised in Lynn, the daughter of the late William and Alice (Dolan) Ford and has lived in Revere for the past 62 years.

Mrs. DeSimone was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and St. Mary’s High School in Lynn. “Nana” was a devoted homemaker who loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and her husband, “Gigi” also enjoyed wintering in Pembroke Park, Florida with their friends from Revere.

In addition to her husband, she leaves four daughters: Janice Sullivan and her husband, John, Carol Mastrangelo and her husband, Alan, Leanne Hartigan and her husband, Dennis and Joanne Rappa and her husband, Stephen, all of Saugus; one son, Dr. James DeSimone and his wife, Marta of Ft. Wayne, IN; 11 grandchildren: Jay Sullivan, Brendon Sullivan and his wife, Bethany, Ryan Sullivan and his wife, Amanda, Alan Mark Mastrangelo and his wife, Meredith, Amy Mastrangelo, Michael Hartigan and his wife, Danielle, Brian Hartigan and his fiancée, Kristie McDonough, Joseph DeSimone, Kate DeSimone, Stephen Rappa and his wife, Liz, Amanda Rappa and her fiancé, Scott Moses; four great grandchildren: Christopher, Christian, Harrison and  Alexandria and many nieces and nephews.  Mrs. DeSimone was predeceased by six brothers, William, Thomas, Henry, Robert, Arthur and John Ford.
