The Walking Bus

The Garfield Elementary School invited all students and their families to walk to school with the Garfield Walking School Bus on Weds., March 6th. Walkers power the Garfield walking school bus. The walking bus begins at a walk stop where students and their families meet and walk together. As walkers make their way towards the school, they meet other Garfield School students and families. There were three routes to choose from: North Shore Road, Franklin Avenue, and Shirley Avenue. School officials said walking to school is a great way for students to be healthy, meet other students, and families to meet one another. The Garfield is looking to expand the program in the near future. Here, School Committeeman Fred Sannella, and Principal Patricia DiGregorio wait at the North Shore Road stop with parents and students to walk to school.
