City Councillor Ira Novoselsky is perhaps one of the few full-time councillors who has yet to wield the gavel as Council President. Though he has been on the Council for many years, he has never had that leading role on the body. Though he has been vice president several times, until now, he has not been president.
Novoselsky knows how to run a meeting, how to keep things moving and when to cut councillors off when they’ve strayed too far.
The choice of Jessica Giannino as the vice president is also a solid choice.
Giannino, obviously, brings youth and new ideas to the table, but she also brings a family tree that stretches back about 100 years in Revere. It’s rare these days to find a young person interested in the old game of local politics.
