Boys track team runs past English

The Revere High boys indoor track team coasted to its second win of the young season with a runaway 64-22 victory over Lynn English last Thursday at the RHS fieldhouse.

Bringing home first place finishes for the Patriots, which placed five points into the scorebook for Revere, were: Tarik Maddrey in the high jump with a leap of 6-0; Omar Morales with a toss of 45-1 in the shotput; Karim Sahila in the 50 yard hurdles in 5.9; Robert Rose with a clocking of 39.4 in the 300 yard dash; Younes Hartout in the 600 in 1:31.9; and Wilmer Cruz in the mile in 5:19.2.

Second place efforts, good for three points each, were garnered by: Rose with a high jump of 5-8; Maddrey in the 50 hurdles in 6.9; Jeff Simbert in the 50 yard dash in 5.8; Johnny Lopes with a time of 39.9 in the 300; Zack Primo in the 600 in 1:33.4; Rawlings Toglan in the 100 in 3:00.2, (which was just 0.3 behind the first place time); William Truong in the mile in 5:24; and John Dellorusso in the two mile in 11:32.

Adding single points to the Revere cause with third place performances were: Kyle Gotham with a leap of 5-2 in the high jump; Brett Deukmejian with a shotput heave of 38-7; Matt Roncevich with a sprint of 7.5 in the 50 hurdles; Joey Ritchie with a 50 yard dash of 5.8; and Sala Barhoum in the two mile with a run of 12:10.

The Patriots will host Lynn Classical next Thursday after the new year.

Girls track team runs past Lynn English

The Revere High girls indoor track team posted its first win of the season with a commanding 58-27 triumph over Lynn English last Thursday at the Merullo fieldhouse.

The Lady Patriots won seven of the nine individual events: Hayley Mangino in the high jump with a leap of 4-2; Janice DeStefano with a toss of 29-7 in the shotput; Lindsay Gurska in the 50 hurdles in 8.2; Alanna Pasco in the 600 with a clocking of 1:58.2; Danielle Fortuna in the 1000 in 3:44.1; Nikki Nelson in the mile n a time of 6:08, which was 32 seconds faster than her closest English rival; and Maggie DiPlatzi in the two mile with a run of 14:59.

Second place finishers for Revere were: Noelle Galli in the shotput with a throw of 26-2; Brenda Rudecindo in the 50 hurdles in 8.5; Raychel Adreani with a 50 dash of 6.7; Comfort Toglan in the 300 dash in 47.5; Cristina Martinez in the 1000 in 3:55; and Mangino in the two mile in 14:59.

Third place efforts were turned in by: Lauren Hayes with a shotput toss of 25-2; Noelle MacDonald in the 50 hurdles in 9.1; Angeli Buenaventura in the 50 dash in 6.8; Yesenia Arango in the 300 dash in 53.4; Fiona Kerthi in the 600 in 2:03.6; and Taylor O’Neil in the 1000 in 3:59.5.

The RHS girls will seek to make it two wins in a row when they host Lynn Classical next Thursday.
