The City Budget

The city is once again dealing with limited funds to meet its obligations for the coming year.

In other words, even after carefully watching all spending and making cuts here and there, the city needs new revenue streams or added revenue streams to make up the structural deficit that occurs from year to year when spending and the cost of goods and services rise and income does not.

If an when the casino becomes a reality at Suffolk Downs, Revere’s split of the take guaranteed in the legislation will drop between $3 – $5 million a year into the city treasury and there will be no talk about deficits or cutting back for quite some time to come.
