Police Presence on Broadway

February 22, 2012

At the mayor’s request, Chief Cafarelli has assigned a number of police officers to the Broadway beat.

For the first time in years, Broadway now has police officers present and highly visible in yellow jackets from 2-6 p.m. everyday to add to the new effort to raise the quality of life for those who have businesses on Broadway as well as for those who shop here and for kids getting out of high school and walking home.

It is this type of presence that is so necessary if Broadway is to attract new commerce and life in the months and years to come.

Thank you, Chief Cafarelli and thank you to those officers now patrolling Broadway.

Last week I saw two police young officers walking along on Broadway.  They walked right by an illegally parked car on Broadway that should have been ticketed for illegally being parked in a “NO PARKING” area.
This is just a publicity stunt for the new mayor and the police chief as far as I  am concerned after seeing non-incident.  I like it better when I see cops actually enforcing the law and the rules not just looking cute in a uniform…so let’s “get to work” and earn our pay and not just get some walking exercise. Don’t get me wrong i have a regard for policemen.  They may just be the ones who save my life one day…
Remember one of our Founding Fathers once stated…”government is a necessary evil”, and “that government that governs best that governs least”…and one more…”power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”
So to the new mayor and police chief..TANTI AUGURI, which means best wishes in Italian….remember our heritage and why our ancestors came here in the first place…may God bless America…
