Tough Start for RHS Softball Team

The Revere High softball team dropped both of its contests this past week, falling to Lynn Classical, 12-0, last Friday and then to Beverly, 11-5, on the holiday.

Some fielding miscues by the Lady Patriots early in the Beverly contest allowed the Lady Panthers to grab a lead which Revere was unable overcome. The Lady Patriots’ bats came alive late in the game, but it proved too little, too late. Senior Captain Ashley DiFraia turned in a fine day at the plate, going 4 for 5 with two RBI.

The 12-0 loss to Lynn Classical saw the Lady Patriots endure a no hitter. Fielding miscues also proved costly in that one.

“We need to gain some confidence in ourselves,” said RHS head coach Joe Ciccarello. “We have to be more aggressive at the plate and avoid the mistakes in the field that get us behind early.”

The Lady Pats have a busy week ahead, as they host Lynn English this morning (Wednesday); travel to Waltham tomorrow; entertain  Peabody Monday; host  Gloucester next Wednesday; and then travel to Winthrop next Friday.
