Mayoral candidate George Rotondo drew a large crowd to his official announcement that he is running which was given at the Beachmont VFW Thursday night.
Hundreds attended the official announcement, which follows up on his earlier promise made some months ago that he is a candidate without question.
“I am humbled by the size of this crowd,” he told the Journal. “I believe it says something about the viability of my candidacy.”
At this time, he and mayoral hopeful Dan Rizzo, are the only two announced candidates wishing to succeed Mayor Tom Ambrosino who has said he will not be running.
At this point, it appears Ambrosino will be remaining in the mayor’s office for at least the next three months as he awaits word from the Patrick Administration.
If that is the case, the likelihood of a possible special election is fading as time passes.
This implies that Rizzo and Rotondo will be locked in a conventional campaign for mayor.
Rizzo’s official announcement drew a large crowd some weeks back.
