Golf team drops decision to Winthrop

The young Revere High golf team, which features four sophomores in the eight man lineup, dropped a 57-15 decision at Winthrop last week.

Senior Vin Lauria, playing at the No. 8 position, was the top scorer for the Patriots with 3.5 points out of a possible nine points against his Winthrop counterpart.. Sophomore John Cimarutta was next with three points in the No. 3 slot. Fellow soph Mark Maloney added 2.5 points at No. 4 and junior Kevin Bennett chipped in with two points at No. 5.

Also contributing to the RHS score card were soph T.J. MacDonald at No. 2 with 1.5 points; junior Nick Romano, a first time player, with 1.5 points at No. 6; soph Jagger DiCenso at No. 7 with one point; and senior Frank Colleran at No. 1 who earned half a point.

“We’re obviously a young team, but if we work hard and with more experience, we should be able to improve,” said RHS had coach Ben Murphy.

The Patriot linksters traveled to Saugus yesterday (Tuesday) and will journey to Danvers next Tuesday.
