Carmela Silvestri

Of Lynn, formerly of Revere

Carmela (Falcucci) Silvestri of Lynn, formerly of East Boston, Groveland and Revere, died on August 3.

She was the beloved wife of the late Francesco Silvestri with whom she shared 52 years of marriage; loving mother of Anthony Silvestri and his wife, Janice, Assunta O’Keefe and her husband, William, and Maria Perez, all of Lynn and Rosario Silvestri and his wife, Deborah, of Groveland; dear sister of Anthony Falcucci of Roslindale, Evelyn Simmons of Gloucester, Rose Falcucci of Florida and the late Leonard and Antoinetta Guliano; cherished grandmother of Francesco, Anthony, Michael, Tonimarie, Nicholas, Christina, Paul, Tim, Billy, Amanda, Jesse, Rebecca, Ryan and Angela and seven great grandchildren.

Family and friends may visit Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Vazza’s "Beechwood" Funeral Home, 262 Beach Street, Revere and may meet Friday morning at Calvary Christian Church, 47 Grove St, Lynnfield at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Carolina Engel

Resident of Revere and Winthrop

Carolina I. (Rodriguez) Engel, a long time resident of Revere and Winthrop, died on July 26 at the Everett Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a long confinement. She was 96 years old.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on August 17, 1913, she came to the United States in August of 1974 settling in Beachmont, Revere. She lived in Winthrop for a brief time and then returned to Revere.

The wife of the late Nicholas Engel, she was the mother of Isabel Arias of St. Petersburg, Florida, formerly of Revere; the grandmother of Monica Fitzpatrick of St. Petersburg, Florida and Beatrice Daigle of Leominster; great grandmother of Gabrielle Mendoza and Vanessa Daigle and great great grandmother of Stephanie and Nicholas. She was the sister of Eva Carria and Amanda Rodriguez, both of Argentina, and Nelly Fernandez of Naples, Florida. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews in Argentina and Italy

Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Thursday, August 5 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere. Arrangements were in the care of Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals of Revere.

 

Myrtle Erricolo

Immaculate Conception Parishioner

Myrtle (Lewis) Erricolo, a 90 year resident of Revere, died on August 2 at the Daniels Nursing Home in Reading following a long confinement. She was 97 years old.

A devotee of the Immaculate Conception Church of Revere for many years, she was born in Nova Scotia, Canada and came to Revere more than 90 years ago.

She was the wife of the late Anthony Erricolo (affectionately known as "Will Rogers") who died in December of 1985. She was the mother of Jeanine L. White and her husband, Joseph J. White, of Lynnfield, Mary Ellen Doherty and her husband, John "Jack" Doherty, of the Revere Fire Department and the late Leo W. Erricolo. She is also lovingly survived by five grandchildren, one great grandson and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Viola Mary Lewis and the late Mildred Lewis.

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on Friday, August 6 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Remembrances may be made to your favorite charity.

Martha A. Lyons of Revere, formerly of Dorchester and East Boston, died on July 31.

She was the beloved mother of Martha A. Young and her fiancé, Rudy Wilson, of Revere, and Roger A. and his wife, Angela Young, of Everett; loving sister of Alice Bertini of Melrose, John J. Lyons of Florida, Leonard R. Lyons of Boston, Joseph P. Lyons of Winthrop, and the late Claire T. Lyons; devoted grandmother of Mevilyn C. and R.J. Wilson; niece of Claire T. Doherty of Quincy; former wife of the late John P. O’Leary. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours in the Murphy Funeral Home, 1020 Dorchester Ave., Dorchester will be today, Wednesday, from 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Margaret Church of Blessed Mother Teresa Parish, Thursday morning, August 5, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Frank Smith of Malden, formerly of Chelsea, died on July 30. He was 44 years old.

He was the beloved husband of Sharon (Mahar) Smith with whom he shared 21 years of marriage; loving father of Leah and Scott Smith, both at home; dear brother of Larry Cataldo and Kevin Smith, both of Chelsea; Danny Smith of Minnesota and Kathy Ricci of Tyngsboro.

Stephanie Logan-Severino

Auto accident victim

Stephanie B. Logan-Severino of Melrose, formerly of Malden, died at the Melrose Wakefield Hospital as a result of injuries from an automobile accident on August 1. She was 26 years old.

Born in Boston and a longtime Melrose resident, she was an administrative assistant, working in various offices.

She was the wife of Robert W. Severino; dear and devoted mother of Brianna and Makayla Logan of Melrose; loving daughter of Joy Logan of Melrose; devoted granddaughter of Ellen Logan of Revere; dear and loving sister of Brian Logan of Melrose and Rachel Logan of Malden.

Frank G. Ray of Malden, formerly of East Boston, died on July 7.

He was the sweetheart and fiancé of Fran Frith of Malden; loving son of the late Michaelangelo and Gloria (Grandolfi) Ray; beloved brother of Angela Ray of East Boston and Virginia Ray of Revere; cherished nephew of Clara and Rye Case of Canada and Ray Moore of Rhode Island and is also survived by many loving cousins and friends.

Sheldon Appel

Sheldon Appel, a lifelong resident of Revere, died at home on July 29.

Born in Boston, he was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1956. He was a very caring father and uncle who took great pride in ensuring that both his children and nieces and nephews were taken care of.

He was the devoted father of Jamie Appel and his wife, Stephanie, and Corey Appel; the dear brother of Sandy Schepis and her husband, Nick, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held at Beth Israel cemetery, Everett, with arrangements by Torf Funeral Service, Chelsea. Michael SanAngelo

Decorated Veteran

Michael SanAngelo of Bremen, Maine, formerly of Revere, died July 29 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old.

Born on March 31, 1920 in Revere, the son of the late Nicholas and Victoria (DeMarco) SanAngelo, he was a proud veteran, serving honorably during World War II with

the U.S. Army, participating in New Guinea and Luzon in the Southern Philippines and receiving two bronze service stars.

In 1950 he returned to Revere, and in 1982, he retired from Federal Warehouse in South Boston as a supervisor. Following his retirement, he and his wife moved to Maine to his wife’s family’s homestead. They moved

into the very house where she was born, and until 2005 they spent their winters together in Florida.

Mr. SanAngelo was a member of the Charles C. Lilly American Legion Post 149, Waldoboro, and the Knights of Columbus, Council 10897, Saint Patrick’s Parish. He was an avid food shopper and enjoyed working in

his yard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lorraine L. SanAngelo Dixey, as well as by five brothers and sisters.

In addition to his loving wife, Lila C. (Ifill) SanAngelo of Bremen, Mr. SanAngelo is survived by three granddaughters, Michele Lang and her

husband, Charles, of Seabrook, NH, Christine Carbone and her husband, John, of Billerica, and Lisa Ann Dixey and her companion, Jonathan Mann, of

North Easton, MA. He also leaves seven great grandchildren, Taylor Reska, Jordan Lang,

twins Lyndsey and Casey Lang, Sophia Lorraine Carbone, London James Carbone, and Adriana Mann; as well as a brother, Peter SanAngelo, and his

wife, Betty, of Malden.

Cosmo F. Sacchetti of Tewksbury, formerly of Revere and Rhode Island, died on July 3.

A horse trainer and a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II, he was the beloved husband of the late Mary C. (LePore) Sacchetti; loving father of Donna DiCenso of Woburn, Retired Revere Police Officer James Griffin and his wife, Cheryl, of Revere, Denise Vazza and her husband, Anthony, and Joseph Griffin and his wife, Kim, all of Tewksbury; dear brother of Marie Caliri of Rhode Island and the late Vincent and Anthony Sacchetti. He was the cherished grandfather of 10 and great grandfather of seven. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Carlotta M. (Alfama) Ferrante of Revere, formerly of New Bedford, died unexpectedly in East Boston on July 27. She was 88 years old.

She was a former member of the Chelsea Seniors at the Salvation Army Chelsea Citadel and a member of PALS of St. Mary’s Parish, Revere.

She was the wife of the late Domenic Ferrante; devoted mother of Patricia A. Ferrante, cherished grandmother of David S. Ferrante and dear great grandmother of Angelina Ferrante, all of Revere. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Josephine Alfama, Florence Baker, Louise Costa, Mary Morgera, Alice Baptista and Frank Alfama.

She was the beloved wife of the late Vincent A. Palazzo Sr.; devoted mother of Ann Marie DeAngelis and her husband, Louis, of Burlington, Vincent A. Palazzo Jr. and his wife, Virginia, of Belmont; loving grandmother of Melissa Cunningham, Gregory, Elizabeth and Christa Palazzo; loving great grandmother of Sean and Ryan Cunningham; dear sister of Anna Mazzone of Waltham, Rose Subrizio and her husband, Orlando, of Revere and the late John Napolitana, Mildred Rumore, Ann Ruel and Theresa Paragona.

A Chelsea Produce Market employee, he was the beloved husband of Sharon (O’Connell) Santaniello with whom he shared 22 years of marriage; loving father of Nicole Santaniello and her fiancé, Michael Jamgochian, Mark J. and Nicholas Santaniello, all of Medford; cherished grandfather of Jack Jamgochian; dear brother of Michael and his wife, Patricia, of New York, Linda Melito and her husband, Richard, and Nancy Raduazzo Santaniello, all of Revere, James and his wife, Lisa, of Marshfield and the late Anne Marie Manfra and fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

American Airlines retiree, Revere Board of Health member

Alexander J. DeNisco of Revere died on July 28.

A US Navy veteran, he was the President of American Airline Vanguard Retirees and a member of the American Legion and the Revere Board of Health.

He was the beloved husband of the late Josephine (Cavallaro) DeNisco; devoted father of John and his wife, Phyllis, of Malden, Jean Gallant and her husband, Paul, of Halifax, Al Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Middleton; dear brother of Carmen of Peabody and Connie Grelish-Cremin of Florida. He is also survived by six loving grandchildren, Anthony, Michelle, David, Daniel, Mary and Francesca.
