The Revere High girls indoor track team, led by Jessica Simpson’s 6.33 points, defeated Lynn Classical last week, 53.66 to 27.34, as the Lady Patriots captured six of the nine first places in the meet.

Jessica won the 1000 in a time of 3:34.6 and tied for second in the high jump with a leap of four feet, two inches. Other first place finishers for Coach Samnang Ros’s squad were: Briana Scata with a shotput toss of 28-8.5; Theresa Santiano McHatton, who sped to victory in the 50 yard dash in 6.7 seconds; Colby Hough in the 600 in 1:51.7; Tayla Hough in the mile in 6:08.3; and Joanna Greene in the two mile in 14:04.

Second place efforts, which added three points to the Revere cause, were turned in by: Amanda Digitale with a time of 6.7 in the dash; Camden Sigouin in the 300 in 48.3; Brittany Brown in the 600 in 2:02.6; Andrea Ornelas in the 1000 in 4:04.3; and Jessica Loeser in the mile in 6:50.5.

Third place finishers who contributed single points to the Revere scoresheet were: Samantha Harris with a shotput throw of 24-10.5; Ha Nguyen in the 300 in 51.2; Maria Dreeszen in the 600 in 2:12.4, which completed a sweep for the Lady Patriots in that event; and Kassandra Digitale in the two mile in 15:48.

Elizabeth Nutile tied for second with Simpson and a Classical girl in the high jump, which meant that those four points were split among the three girls, who earned 1.33 points each for their team.

Ros and a large contingent of his team made the trek to the Reggie Lewis Center Sunday for the State Relay Meet. The quartet of Colby Hough, Jessica Simpson, Taren Kershaw, and Tayla Hough turned in the most impressive performance of the day in the 4 x 400 as their time of 4:31.59 qualified them for the State Meet later in the season.
